Bloody, bloody, bloody coptic meant that my plans all went out the window today and I literally did not step foot outside. This was a bit of a shame really because I had been scheduled to use one of my 'Get out of Jail Free' cards to take exercise 'for a resonable amount of time'. I had planned a walk of around 12Km setting off from Liselotte's house and had arranged to meet her at 9.00am for the off. Well at about 8.00am the weather was shit and had been shit for most of the night and had been interspersed with thunder and lightning and I didn't want to walk in that. We agreed to give up on today and rearrange for tomorrow and I jokingly said to John "I bet the sun shines at five to nine!" and bugger-me it bloomin' well did but only for a short while and then it returned to being shit so I felt fully vindicated in my decision to postpone.
John went off to do our food shopping. With only two outings a day allowed each we are being careful so that if Mum needed us to shoot down in an emergency (God forbid) we would have a chit available. Last time we found a way of doing an extra outing once we had used up our permission but this time there doesn't seem to be a way round it. Plus we aren't sure whether or not Les will need collecting from the hospital although unlikely today as he is to have a second CT Scan and wont get the result of that until tomorrow I would have thought (if last time was anything to go by).So my little joke opposite is exactly what it is like in our house at the moment except it is missing a line which says "Shit... Forgot to text for my approval to go out..." I have now done that twice and got the car before realising!!
Anyway food shopping lists are a bit of a waste of time if it is only John going shopping as he generally comes back with lots of things that weren't on the list but caught his eye!!! I rest my case as he returned with four lonely bottles of real ale which he had found loafing on the shelf all on their ownie-o and which he felt duty bound to liberate.
The plus side for John to me not walking and him doing the shopping, and it being chillier indoors than it has been, was that I cracked on with the contents of the ironing basket, some of which was celebrating its third or maybe forth birthday in there!!! John must have been so low on T-Shirts and Shirts!! By the time he returned I was down to the last two items and he felt sorry for me and relieved me of my duties - I wasn't sorry - one of the remaining two items was a nice but horrible to iron seersucker shirt - blooming hell a bloody seersucker item of any description looks the same whether you iron it or not surely??? Anyway I cannot believe that after finally having a completely clear ironing basked John asked whether we should put a load of washing on. I declined wanting the savour that feeling of NO IRONING for 24 hours at the very least.
Tonight's supper is referred to as EMOL or Eclectic Mix of Leftovers. Tonight it will comprise a jacket potato served with some coleslaw to use up some rather sad looking carrots and cabbage. A stuffed pepper using the crust of the old brown vienna loaf which has been made into breadcrumbs with some smoked cheese slices that I purchased way before Christmas from Lidl to eat at Christmas and which has been sitting unopened in the fridge ever since, the remains of the salad which came with last night's fish and chip supper and the remainder of the Christmas Gammon which I have 'jujed' up by cooking in some coca-cola and orange juice and which is shredded a bit like pulled pork. Gammon is not my favourite but this looks and smells ok.
We had four seasons in one day today - literally and my cup ranneth over when we had a violent hailstorm mid afternoon which does more damage in the garden than just about anything else. We haven't really needed the wood burner much so far this winter so we have plenty of wood which is great because we don't have to worry about lighting it which is generally mid afternoon so that we can snuggle down to watch TV after supper and a video call with Mum.
