I forgot to say that John produced an absolute corker of a meal last night. He took a plain old shop-bought pepperoni pizza from Lidl and turned it into a thing of magnificence. This very nearly became the most expensive pizza in the world when our neighbours Das and Belinda text to ask if we wanted anything from Lidl and we asked them to get the pizza. I did explain to them that if they were going down for a rummage amongst the 'specials' that this area of items deemed non-essential would be cordoned off due to the restrictions. What they didn't realise was that they weren't supposed to shop in Lidl before 10.00am because up until then it is set aside for the over 65s and those with special requirements. No-one stopped them going into the shop and they were walking around getting their provisions when they were stopped by two plain clothes policemen who asked them why they were shopping at that time. Das had to think quickly on his feet but as he explained to the officers Belinda has recently suffered a number of strokes and doesn't go out shopping when it is busy hence they had come now. The policemen allowed them to finish their shopping but they had to go down to Peyia Police Station on Monday with Belinda's complete medical records which she had had to have pinged over from the UK. Hopefully this will have satisfied the authorities and they will hear no more - had they been fined then it would have been about 300 euros EACH!!! We almost felt too guilty to eat the bloomin' pizza but once John took it out of the oven with its extra pepperoni, chorizo, red bell pepper, onion cooked in chili oil and extra cheese nothing was going to stop us - mmmm mmmm - we devoured the best part of two and then left two slices outside the gate for Mark to come and pick up. We know he had it and not some passing cat as he text later to say thanks.

A lovely meal last night followed by a good night's sleep in fresh hay set us up for the morning and we had decided to sit down and have a civilised breakfast rather than eating it on the run and then we were going to get one of the jobs on the to-do list done and dusted and we had plumped for removing the wood paneling in the lounge and putting a layer of insulation between that and the outside wall.
Our civilised breakfast comprised freshly made filter coffee with some toasted croissants and orange juice before we got into our slobbers and set about our allotted task together - which meant that there was bound to be an argument over something!
I didn't have to worry about getting food ready for this evening as, it being Friday and Friday in lockdown, we were having a takeaway and we were trying out Chinese/Thai again from the Farmyard (a) because we had enjoyed it so much last week and (b) because we want to support Rachel and Savvas if we can so this is one way in which we do and I am not complaining because it means I don't have to cook and probably wont have to cook tomorrow either as there will be enough for two nights!
We had to clear the furniture away from the wall which we had planned to insulate - this is the wall that gets the worst of the weather and is the one which we stone clad - it just so happened that we had sheets of polystyrene suitable for going behind the panels and we thought it would be a good idea. The only trouble was that the sheets were too big and would need cutting so that meant there was going to be little beads of polystyrene clinging on statically all of the place.
So here is a beautifully insulated wall all ready for the panels to be put back into place. It took quite a while but mainly because having everything out of the way gave me the opportunity to give the floor a really good clean. We have decided to get some more insulation and do the wall in the spare bedroom which is against the swimming pool. That bedroom is absolutely freezing in the winter when no-one is sleeping and we have to keep the dehumidifier working in there 24/7 to ensure it is just cold and not cold and damp.
We got the house back into some semblance of order and toasty warm before John set off with his permission to go and collect our takeaway. Boris hadn't quite made it into his bed properly but was so tired that when he fell out he didn't even wake!
