Mrs Kirby's Birthday

Neither John nor I were walking today because the weather forecast wasn't good and we like to make the decision early-doors so we are not getting up, getting ready and then not going.   I have rearranged to go with Rachel on Thursday when we are due to have sunshine all day.  This meant that I could spend the morning doing a bit of art for this week's challenge which is EYES and this must have sparked some enthusiasm because I have had entries already!

It is Nicky's birthday today - both she and I celebrated a 'special' birthday last year and managed to do exactly what we wanted to do before we had even really comprehended how serious, this 'Chinese Virus' we were all hearing about, actually was. of art Exactly one week after my birthday we were plunged into Lockdown and life has not been the same since.

However, during lockdown, Nicky has discovered a love for all sorts of Art and so we have given her a painting by numbers kit for a picture of a cow.  I have to say Painting By Numbers is much more sophisticated than it was in my youth!!!

The kit did not include something to stretch the canvas to that will be a little job for Mark to tackle at some point.  Anyway Nicky we hope you had a great day today even if you could not celebrate it in the manner to which you have become accustomed!!!

I had given her our card and gift yesterday after we had finished walking as I knew we would not be seeing her today - Mark was cooking her a special supper from scratch so we didn't want to disturb.  We knew he was making lasagne and I haven't had that for ages because I have always thought that John doesn't like it but he said he would be happy to give it a go so when we went off to do our shopping we decided to get the ingredients to make it.

We went down to Paps to do our shopping and it must have been our lucky day because just about everything on our list was on offer!!!!

We had quite a bit of money on our loyalty card and we decided we would invest it in some bulk shopping for things which were on offer which normally I baulk at buying and when John was off in search of some chocolate (also on offer!!!) I found a few bottles of one of the beers he likes - the Russian made Three Hills which were reduced from €1.30 to .55cents - now that is what I call a bargain!!!

The butchery department even had pigs livers which was a blessing as we were down to our last few portions so Miss Minnie and Boo would be happy,

We returned home and settled down for the remainder of the day - we had a couple of episodes of The Disappearance to watch, we had wings, wedges and coleslaw all ready for our supper.  Not a very exciting day but a nice one.
