Oh NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Today did not quite pan out as expected.  The weather this week is tipped to be pretty awful and we had some terrible weather during the night but this morning all was calm, all was bright and so Nicky and I were going to walk.  I had mapped out a route in and around Kritou Terra and we set off, parked up, I took a photograph of the Vrisi area and Nicky tripped over.  She fell heavily onto her elbow and took all the skin off the palm of ther hand and initially she thought she heard something snap so thought she might have broken something.  I got her to wiggle her fingers which she could and seemed like a good sign but the colour had drained from her face and she said she felt sick.  I managed to get her to sit on the bench at the bus stop and sip some water and phoned Mark to warn him we were coming back early and that she would be wise to get checked out at hospital.  I was then faced with the task of driving her car and her home which was a bit of a challenge as I rarely, if ever, drive a manual car!!!  Anyway I got her home in one piece and she shot off to the hospital and thankfully nothing was broken but she is going to have one hell of a bruise and some major aches and pains for a while.

By the time I returned home John was out walking with Liselotte so I decided to get a bit of exercise and walk up to the Community Office and pay our water bill and on my way back I actually bumped into them and declined their invitation to join them - not least because we are not allowed to walk as a three and furthermore I was in my slippers!!!

I returned home to do some gardening and after some long hard thought I eventually decided upon a spot where the new 'herb garden' is going to live - as John said once filled it was pretty heavy and so once in situ that is were it is going to stay.

The pot is in the sunshine sheltered outside the kitchen door and hopefully there it will thrive.  It has a small bay tree, rosemary, sage, thyme and lemon verbena - all of which are herbs which I use on a pretty regular basis and now wont need to venture out in the rain if I need any of them.

I continued working outside until John returned from his walk - he had chosen something that wasn't too arduous as he has been having some gyp from his knee recently - I reckon it is because the weather is cold and damp.  I am not sure I will get a walk in this week as the weather is going to deteriorate.  Pity all those eating establishments who have re-opened today which will have to close again because of the weather.

This afternoon we had to take Isabel's car down to Andreas's to get MOT'd - she had asked me to tax it for her - previously David did all these sorts of things but I couldn't because it transpires the MOT ran out a couple of weeks' ago.  As John and I were going shopping this afternoon anyway it was no hardship to drop it at the garage but when we got there it looked to be shut up - just as we were leaving Andreas appeared and we were able to give him the car and tell him we would be back later.  The car passed no problem so that was good.  What is not so good is Isabel asked me to check to see whether the maintenance guy (who she pays) has tidied up her garden - it is clear that he has not.  I did eventually manage to tax the car but not until Isabel had been able to send me the new insurance details!

Tonight we settled down to one of my favourite suppers - Halloumi salad with jacket potatoes (and bizarrely two fish cakes left over from last night - John's suggestion).  The halloumi was from the village - it is the slightly salted one and is sublimely delicious!!!  Add to that the humungous strawberries which we got from Paps for our pudding and it was an all round fabulous meal.
