Today is Wednesday - it would appear we may have had rain overnight as everything seemed wet this morning and it took a while for the sun to break through. The garden is alive with colour - the wild poppies are in full bloom now and I shall leave them to grace our garden and self seed before I rip them up!!!
Today I was officially sacked as John's PA - we got up early and went down to Polis Hospital so that he could have his Covid Vaccination - I had booked it last week and selected 9.30am Wednesday - the only trouble was that it was not today but next week which John soon found out!!! He was good about it the mistake - he thought it was quite funny and at least he got a dry run so he knows exactly what to do next week!!!
We got back home and I got organised and set off to spend my regular Wednesday with Mum. She was going out for coffee with her friends Sue and Fran which meant I didn't need to be with her until 1.00pm. This gave me a chance to call in to various shops on the Mesoghi Avenue before arriving at Emba.
It is getting increasingly more difficult for me to find clothes that fit here and at a price I want to pay - where we used to be able to order from the UK the taxes and duties make this unattractive.
I managed to find a summer dress which is a 'throw on and easy to wear' and didn't cost an arm and a leg and I also managed to chat with Cath who was serving who Mum used to pop down and visit and have a chat and a coffee with. With Covid restrictions this is sadly no longer a possibility as the shop can only have a couple of customers in at any one time so someone just wanting a chat is taking up one of the numbers.
As I was saying to Cath this morning it is bewildering to look around and see the world we are living in. Today at one of the shops I looked at all the people inside all wearing masks - who would have thought that this was to be our future? We never thought that we would still be under such restrictions after a year.
Mum was fine, in fact better than fine having had company this morning and I think her new hearing aids are making life better for her. We had a nice hour or so and lunch together. Tomorrow she is out for afternoon tea with Lilian and Sandy and I know she is looking forward to it.
When I returned home all was good. My little boys were asleep on the sofa and Minnie, who had been very poorly this morning seemed to be recovering. Strangely all the cats have been sick this week which makes us wonder if there is something being used nearby that they don't like - we are very mindful after what happened to Chivers to try and keep them ultra safe. Charlie was sick first, then this morning Minnie was sick and we found evidence that she had been very unwell during the night and we also found evidence to indicate Boris had also been sick. This is worrying but they all seemed none the worse for wear this afternoon thank goodness.
