Starry Starry Night

So last night I was doing a quick head-count of the cats before we went to bed - I went outside to call for Charlie when something caught my eye.  Initially I thought it was a shooting star or something as there was supposed to be a meteor shower recently but when I looked up there was a line of stars like a string of fairy lights being dragged across the sky - they were all the same size, all equi-distant and all traveling at the same speed - I shouted for John because I had no idea what it was and of course he couldn't hear me - I thought the spectacle might have disappeared by the time I got to him but fortunately it hadn't and he, like me, watched in amazement.  This was all too uniform to be a meteor shower so I had to Google it - "Strange String of Lights in the Sky Tonight" and this is what I learned - SpaceX Starlink Satellites is an internet constellation being constructed to provide satellite internet access.  It will ultimately consist of thousands of mass-produced small satellites which communicate with designated ground transceivers. WHO KNEW?????  It was pretty special witnessing it and I was so glad that John had seen it too otherwise I think he would have thought I had gone nuts!!

This morning I set aside for giving the solanum in the garden a haircut - we have three.  One which is outside the backdoor which is the biggest normally but which we chopped down pretty hard at the end of last year.  The second is one which I have topiarised so it is clipped into six small balls on each end and the last one is the one in the picture which was a gift from Mum's friend Eileen several years ago and which has taken some time for it to get established.

This evening I went for a cool walk around Kathikas with Rachel who was desperate after two week's lockdown to get out and breath some fresh air and between us put the world to rights.  It was a glorious evening and we haven't done that Kathikas walk for some time and we really enjoyed it.

I have told Rachel that I will set aside Monday evenings to walk with her when she is able to do so as we both enjoyed it and I know it does her good to have some 'her' time.  I got home about 8.00pm - the sun had just gone down and I was feeling full of beans - just as well as Nicky and I have an early start for our walk tomorrow!
