Sundays seem to come around so quickly. I really try and make them special for Mum - I know that she finds being on her own difficult and that Covid and its restrictions have only made thing worse but we do our best. I try and ring her once or even twice a day and see her twice a week but sometimes this isn't enough - it is at times like these I so miss my Dad who could sometimes be a cantacerous old git but in the main was laid back and easy.
I have donated one of my swimming costumes to Mum - I hoped that she might have been able to use it on her trip to Forest Park but sadly not.Next week she is coming with Lilian for our anniversary and I have suggested that maybe they might like a swim or just a cool down after lunch so I was quite pleased when she came with a costume today.
She doesn't think she has been in a pool since she tried to swim in Dubai when we went for my nephews wedding but I have looked back on the blog and she has most definitely been in our pool since - the photograph on the right is the proof as this was taken in 2018.
The pool is absolutely at its best - the water is at a steady 30 degrees and is like a bath - and Mum can just sit on the steps and dangle her feet if she is feeling hot.
We had thought about having a Barbeque today but to be honest it was even too hot for standing over a grill so John suggested that we did Coronation Chicken, coleslaw and wedges because those are all things that Mum enjoys.
If I cannot find Charlie and I think they are here I text Persephone to check but today she sent me a text and a photo confirming my suspicions. Charlie is in the safe hands of Neofitos and will be spoiled rotten whilst they are here on their annual holiday!
I think if George and Pam make it out here this Summer Charlie will think all his birthdays have come at one because like Persephone and Savvas they love Charlie!
So back to today Mum arrived safe and sound and we were really pleased to see that the skin on her forehead has healed perfectly so I feel vindicated in persuading her to get an appointment with the dermatologist. I am just sorry that the treatment was rather painful but the results are amazing.
Anyway we had lunch and went into the pool and then Mum made her way home so she could catch the Wimbledon Men's final and then possibly the football but probably not as it didn't start until 10.00pm. We had hoped that Football was coming home but sadly the Italian's had a different ending planned and to be fair they probably deserved it although I am sure others will argue with me.
Mr Boo came in to watch but soon fell into a deep sleep because apart from the goal which England scored in the first 2 minutes they did bugger all else.
