I was on a bit of a mission today to try and find a selection of photographs of our neighbours George and Pam from times we have spent together when they were able to get out here on holiday. This is one of my particular favourites of George with his companion Charlie, before Charlie had been knocked over. Charlie and George are best mates so Charlie has missed not being able to mooch round and watch a couple of episodes of 'Stin i yiamas' with George. This must have been taken in our house in the conservatory by the looks of it.
We were down with Mum today as she had a number of jobs she wanted us to do for her. We called in to see Lilian first as she has had a problem with a dripping aircon unit and wondered if something had crawled up and got stuck in the water drain pipe. John took his drop wire but couldn't find anything obvious. The unit did not drip whilst we were there but then the minute we left started again. It was exceptionally hot today with temperatures up in the 40s with even hotter weather to come. We are all struggling. We got our jobs done and Mum then very kindly took us up to the Amphitheatre cafe in Tala for a spot of lunch. It looked like it was going to be busy in there so we were pleased to get the end table right in the shade and with a bit of a warm breeze coming up off of the sea.
They do an exceptionally nice Chicken Waldorf Salad here and that was my choice for lunch. John had a sausage and caramelised onion panini and Mum a halloumi pitta. We spent a very pleasant hour or so there before we returned Mum home and then called in at Shuks the butcher and a couple of other shops on the way in search of cat food pouches which are now scarcer than rocking horse poo. I did manage to get some unknown brand ones and let's just say Charlie is less than impressed.
I continued my search of photographs spanning the last 10 years trying to find one in particular which was taken at a festival in the village and eventually I found it. George was in excellent form and decided that he would entertain us by dancing at the end of the table where he was joined by Bambos of O Stathmos and Palates fame.I am sure there are many more and I will continue to look over the next few days and then forward them to Louise.
This evening we asked Lakis and Argy to come and join us for a drink which used to be difficult when Kia was with them because we were always conscious that she was somewhat excluded from the conversations.
They came and we spent a pleasant hour or so sat outside on what was a very warm and dry evening. We have had so little condensation this year that sitting out has become the norm. They are thrilled with their aircon unit and reckon they had the best sleep ever last night - we are still getting to grips with how cold and how long it needs to be on but we are getting there!
