There are some newbies on the estate and these are of the feline kind - Nicky and Mark have been toying with the idea of having a cat (or cats) and I had put them in touch with all the local cat rescue places I could think of and today they went to have a look at the kittens rescued by Luanne Floetker Caskey for Fishing for Felines by the Mediterranean Sea . I believe I met Luanne through Elena many years ago - she calls herself a crazy cat lady and she isn't far wrong!!
So Lordos 1 now welcomes these three little kittens two of which are sisters and are nestled in the back and called Noodles and Roxy and in the front is a slightly older, unrelated female called Tabitha - or at least I think that is the right name for the right kitten.
I have donated them the basket which originally belonged to Fred (Mum's cat) and then used by ours and then washed and put away when I got a one which was more colour coordinated with our lounge! It is getting the once over by the kitten which I think is called Noodles!!! I called round to meet them armed with the basket, litter tray and litter and we watched the three of them bombing their way around Mark and Nicky's house. One thing is for certain their lives will never be the same again!!!
Nicky and Mark are no strangers to being owned by a cat because when they moved over to Cyprus they shipped over their cat Pebbles. After Pebbles passed away they were then adopted by a series of cats who sadly did not last with them for very long for a number of reasons.
Sadly I learned yesterday when I called in to see Belinda that she and Das had to make the decision to return their kitten Lola because they just couldn't get the kitten and their dog Lindy to live together in harmony. Poor Lindy was being side-lined outside which wasn't fair and Lola was systematically wrecking their house and winding the dog up to boot.
We turned the house upside down and then eventually I questioned whether or not there was void behind the back of the woodburning stove and blow me YES THERE WAS and somehow the two grey kittens had squeezed themselves into it and gone to sleep. Mark managed to extricate them and it has highlighted the fact that there is a hidey hole that they need to plug - not least if the woodburner is lit!!!
Crisis averted they placed them all into the basket for an afternoon nap!!!
We then had a quiet afternoon watching sport - the finale of the test match was very exciting and England managed to finish off the Indian team with an innings and a day to spare. John then watched the Man City Arsenal football game where Arsenal got absolutely thumped and then he put himself through the agony and pain of watching Sheffield United grind out a 0-0 draw against Luton!!!!
We had, very kindly, been invited to have supper with Argy and Lakis this evening which I was very happy about because I had spent quite a large part of the day getting food ready for tomorrow when Mum comes up.
Argy produced a wonderful meal of roast lamb with her signature slow roasted potatoes which are to die for, this was served with dips and olives and bread and salad and vegetables and raw carrot and raw fennel and pourgouri and was finished off with poached pears and icecream and/or fruit salad. It was a very very pleasant evening and it showcased their glassed in area perfectly because we had no idea that the evening was one with very heavy condensation - normally that would have rendered everything too wet for comfort.
