We go out...

Mum was hoping that today might be her last visit to the dressings clinic but sadly she was disappointed because one area of her leg started spurting blood like a fountain when the gauze was removed.  Lena the nurse declared that "this is excellent" because the bright red clean blood showed that the wound was healing properly albeit slowly.  I had hoped it was the last visit too because I am struggling with the wheelchair - it is so heavy, there are no dropped kerbs, the road is very uneven and some bugger always parks over the disabled slope making it impossible to get up into the entrance for the hospital.  Once in, it is all quite easy and we have never really had to wait to get her leg looked at.  It has only been three weeks and everyone is absolutely amazed at her progress - whatever they have been doing by way of dressing has clearly worked wonders.  There is still a way to go but she is getting there.

I dropped Mum at Lilian's where she was going to be spending the rest of the day and went home - John had gone shopping with his Mum and was returning home and then the two of us were going down in the evening.  The heatwave has arrived - somehow our weather station has reverted to Fahrenheit but either way it shows how hot is was in the conservatory having had the doors shut - over 100 degrees!  Well our visitors were hoping for some good weather!

I was thrilled to be able to have a brief catch up with Rachel this afternoon as she managed to nip out and come for a cuppa.  Athos was more than happy sat in the conservatory availing himself of the wi-fi!!  Rach told us all about how she and Savvas had tried to help their friends (Mina's neighbours) save their house from being completely destroyed by fire.  It must have been absolutely terrifying for all concerned.

We had planned for a 'light' meal this evening but we had forgotten that the lighter options at Molos are only available lunchtime so we just had to get stuck in and chose from the menu.  It was a lovely evening and the food was good - everyone seemed to enjoy what they had chosen and the atmosphere was brilliant - it was really quite busy there but J,J&S felt quite comfortable with the environment.  They have all been so very careful during the pandemic and still feel nervous about Covid.

The standing joke of their holiday this year is going to be what can be forgotten - last night apparently they got all the way to the restaurant and realised they didn't have their safe passes!!!  tonight Janet managed to leave the restaurant with her cardigan but then realise in the car she no longer had it so we had to go back and found abandoned in the car park!!!
