I resume walking...

I had checked with the Cardiologist whether I would be ok to start walking again - he said absolutely - so Nicky and I were resuming our Saturday walks today leaving at 8.00am for a gentle-ish 6.5Km down through Inea and back through Droushia.  We had planned to walk down below the amphitheatre in Inea and across the valley to the bottom of the hill where the radar is and then back home.  At the amphitheatre there was a sign to say the road was closed and they weren't joking - it was completely impassable so we turned back and carried on through the village taking the higher road out towards the radar only to find that this road was dug up as well although passable on foot.  It would appear that they are putting in some pipes but not sure what.  Sadly though it means that one of our favourite routes is out of bounds for a while and our cross country route down to Viklari unusable for now which is not a problem as we have heard they are shut for the winter.

With the help of John's smart watch I was able to keep an eye on my pulse and blood pressure.  It came as no surprise that when I got to the top of the hill, where we get a stunning view down to Lara, my pulse rate was elevated but it was good to see that it soon returned to something more like normal quite quickly so it looks like my drugs are doing their job.  It was good that we had set off early and that it is now cooler to walk because it made it easier to get back into the swing.

Tomorrow I know that my legs will tell me that I have done a walk but I was quite pleased with how I got on and I think Nicky felt the same.  Nicky and I plan to walk twice a week from now on, work and weather permitting but it will be good to get back to the level of fitness I had before the summer because I hope that my current health issues are merely a blip brought about by whatever that allergic reaction was.  I just wish I could get rid of the heartburn which is aggravated by the medication and is keeping me awake at night.

We went down to Latchi this afternoon.  We were meeting up with Lakis and Argy and Kia for lunch at the Latchi Family Resort where they are able to organise a table set aside at the far end of the restaurant so Kia can eat without exposure to the great unwashed and us too!  The Resort looked to be quite busy - many tourists taking advantage of great deals available at the moment and the lovely weather.

The restaurant  has a fabulous elevated position with far reaching views along the coast in both directions but today the sky was strange and we have rain forecast so that could be the reason.  The food is really very good particularly as Argy had got the chef to cook some calamari which is one of Kia's favourites.

We came back home for a quiet afternoon before going across to sort out Lakis and Argy's Passenger Locator forms which thankfully were no problem - we are a bit concerned about the reports of the chaos at Paphos Airport - they fly back at lunchtime on Monday.

A good day for Dem Blades today - they came back from 1-0 down to win 2-1.
