Thank Goodness for the Conservatory

February and no two days are the same.  Yesterday we had glorious sunshine all day and today we have cold, grey with a rolling mist which was quite miserable.  We spent the day at home and didn't get done anything we had planned for outside because it was just too grim and chilly

Without the conservatory I am not sure how we would cope save for burning lots of fuel.  Even today the temperature in the conservatory was a good 5 degrees more than anywhere else in the house.  Because we don't have windows on the south facing wall of the lounge/dining room this remains cool which is fine in the summer but not so fine today.

Thankfully we have a TV and box in the conservatory so we settled down in there to binge watch the last episodes of The Teacher which we started yesterday.  I couldn't get past the fact that Sheridan Smith has had her upper lip plumped and her top teeth whitened which looked bizarre when she smiled and the bottom ones were grey!  Why do people do it?  Do they not realise how unrealistic they look?  Once I got beyond that the drama was quite good although the ending was a bit of a surprise.

Today was something of a red letter day because after weeks/months of having to watch my food and the food groups I could and couldn't consume we were having Chili con Carne which is something I have really, really missed.  In fact it is so long since I cooked one I had almost forgotten what I normally used.  Anyway we had some lovely lean beef mince from Shuks which rendered off little to no fat.  My chili was put in the slow cooker this morning to bubble away so that when we had it this evening it was full of lovely flavour.  Oh I how I have missed this particular meal which included several of the previous no-no foods, tomato, cheese, tinned/processed foods.  I am hoping that all will be good tomorrow and I shall be looking out for itchy feet later on today.

This evening we started watching something rather different.  A five part series called The North Water which stars one of our favourite actors Stephen Graham.  This is a blood thirsty tale of life on a whaling ship - John and I have averted our eyes at the scenes which involve killing the seals and the whales!

I had yet another full, frank and at times heated discussion with Aviva this evening regarding Mum's missing pension payment.  If that and the chili don't give me hives then nothing will.

On a sad note we learned today that 'Lady' Val from the village had passed away after suffering a stroke a few days ago.   She was a larger than life character so guess that she would never have wanted to have been an invalid and apparently the stroke was a big one,
