My lovely neighbour Argy had made the traditional Avgolemono soup which they eat at Easter. This is egg and lemon soup which she makes with chicken stock and rice is added. It sounds odd to our palate and I have had some awful ones in the past but this is really lovely and I decided that we would have that as a small starter today before our full on Turkey dinner. I am especially grateful to her because I know how difficult Easter is going to be for her without her mum, particularly when we sit and talk about the time we all went to the Easter service together. Anyway Argy thank you - the soup was delicious even if it wasn't Mum's cup of tea.
I don't know why I didn't take any photographs of our afternoon together - I think I was just not feeling the love today. It is probably not a bad thing that we have decided to try and ring the changes with Mum's visits so we can do something different and more interesting for her and for us. Next time she is going to come up on a Monday and we might go down to the coast and take a walk and stop somewhere for a sandwich or go and look around Polis at the shops which are there. What I did take a photograph of were the magnificent grapefruit that Lilian brought for us. We have had some pretty fabulous ones from Marianne in Arodes too this week. I shall be kept busy tomorrow segmenting a load of them for us to have for breakfast. We are about the only people who don't seem to be taking statins or some other form of medication which is adversely affected by grapefruit!
We enjoyed a quiet afternoon after Mum and Lilian had gone home. John watched some of the football that was on and I spent the latter part of the afternoon in the garden clipping and snipping and watering. Pretty soon I reckon I will be doing the pots on a daily basis. Most things have started to put in an appearance after the long wet winter we just have one hibiscus, the variegated bougainvillea in Wendy and Bill corner and a weeping fig that still need to buck their ideas up.
There were still intermittent bangs and explosions and fireworks punctuating the evening - I am just hopeful I will sleep better tonight. We have no real plans for tomorrow - we had hoped to catch up with Di and Rob but they are too busy so we will probably just spend some time tidying up the garden together.
