The job we wanted to get sorted today was raising the path from the pool to the gazebo where we eat, which has sunk a bit over the years. When we had the area around the pool tiled we didn't do the path - that was added later and so didn't get tied in as well as it could have done.
John decided to move the concrete brolly stand into the corner which is where it is going to stay having first raised the end of the path with some reinforcing rod. It meant I finally got round to putting in the three osteospurmum that I bought the other day so I have filled in the bald patches.
I have noticed that the snails are having a fine old time with my fledgling hosta so tomorrow when I go down and see mum I need to get some decorative grit to stop the buggers munching their way through them all. I had a bit left over from some other project I had which I put round three of them and the snails have left them alone. If I get the chance I will take mum to Jumbos after we have been to the bank. I am going to do a bit of shopping for Sonia (who has been struggling with her hip) and the things she wants are from the little Alpha Mega which is just near the Mall so we can kill two birds with one stone as it were.
After we had finished our planned jobs we went off on our voyage of discover to Kritou Tera. We go to Kritou Tera regularly and know the waterfall area which we love but recently learned that they have done a lot of work there which makes the falls where you are able to walk through from one side to the other more accessible than they used to be - for which THANK YOU to Paul Dionysos for giving us the heads up.
During the tourist season you have to park up in an official car park and pay 2 euros and then walk down to the waterfalls but at the moment this isn't in use to so we were actually able to park right next to a new pathway which has been exposed and which allows you to walk to the base of the larger waterfall (the one you can walk through). It is a very pretty walk, the steps are a bit rustic so you need to take care but at the bottom there is a bridge that you can stand on to see the waterfall in all its glory.
It is all rather magical and I was so glad that we had taken time out to go and explore and find it and there was no-one else around - I am guessing it is somewhat less than magical when the customers of the jeep safaris are all jostling and vying for poll position.
This new bit does mean that you can do a rather lovely circular walk down to the waterfall at the picnic area and then down to the cave, through the cave and down to the bottom of the second waterfall and then back to the car park. Whichever route you choose will end up with a rather steep uphill section!
George and Pam's holiday is fast coming to an end although happily they will be returning later in the summer. We had arranged to go out this evening with them and Lakis and Argy to Fitos. I drove because we could get all six of us in The Pug and we had a fabulous evening. The food was brilliant and including our drinks and a tip we paid €35 a couple which was a billy bargain. We had a nightcap back at 2b courtesy of Argy and Lakis before calling it a night. Great food and great company. Thanks lovely neighbours.
