Bad weather expected...

We had a number of things we wanted to get done today and there was a yellow weather warning put out so we were expecting high winds and heavy rain between 11am and 3pm.  In the end we didn't get the rain but it was very windy so we lashed everything down and even took the cover of the Do-Jo gazebo because we usually leave it too long and then the weather batters the hell out of if.  John wanted to try and waterproof it which we did but when we came to put it back off once the time for the bad weather had passed it had slightly shrunk and as he pulled it to attach it, it ripped in his hands.

So before all that we set off down to Polis to return the dehumidifier which had been repaired but still wasn't working properly.  This time they are going to ask for a new one which would be good if we can get.

We also wanted to do the recycling at the car park opposite Moustakallis and then nip out to Argaka to check out the pickleball courts behind the Fly Again.  They are there and there are two.  We think they are administered by Bryn who is currently in Rhodes attending a family wedding.  Our last stop was at Kaites to do a bit of shopping - not much just a bit of salad stuff really.

We called into the village to check the post and decided to call into the garden at Finnikas to have a coffee.  Marina very kindly opened up for us and we sat at 'our' table to have a diplo Skerto (double sized Cypriot coffee without sugar).  We love this spot - it will be a sad day if and when this ever ceases to be an eatery like this.

We didn't do too much else as the weather wasn't brilliant but I did get a chance to do a bit more gardening.  Janet and Derek were making the most of their last full day and getting their house next door tidied up so that when they return they wont be entering a shit tip.  They really have worked like Trojans whilst they have been here and although they won't think they have made much progress they have.  We feel really chuffed to have such a lovely couple next door after all these years of not having any neighbours.  On that score it looks as though new people are renting 3a next door to Argy.  We could see a settee being delivered under the watchful eye of master-builder Mohammed.  I had a sneaky suspicion that all the recent activity there meant someone new was coming.  I do hope they will be nice for Lakis and Argy's sake because it is only this year that they have the freedom to enjoy the place alone.

My other suspicions are correct - the rescued hollyhock has produced one pink flower and one white flower amazingly as we know 100% this was one single plant.  Beautiful isn't it?

We have an early-ish start tomorrow as we have offered to drop Derek and Jan at the airport before taking Mum to the opticians.  Fortunately the timings work well and will save them having a Taxi.  It is going to be quiet without them!
