A fabulous sunset after a lovely day

First thing this morning I nipped down to see Isabel and colour her hair.  Poor Isabel was pulled over by her dog Andro in the week and is looking somewhat battered and bruised.  It never rains but it pours for her and she is so isolated where she is living that the time is most definitely right for her to return to Scotland where she has friends and, more importantly, family.  This is not going smoothly either with an issue with her tenant and now some confusion with the shipping company.  Obviously we will try and help her as much as we can.  On my return John and I went across to catch up with Nicky and Mark who, by the time you read this, should have completed on the sale of their house in Emba which was originally the house that Mum and Dad had built.  It will be the end of an era.  We sat and chatted outside until it began to get too hot and then Nicky and Mark had to shoot off down to Emba for some final packing and clearing anyway.

We then decided on a whim to shoot down to Prodromi and have a frappe and a sandwich at Venetico Cafe on the T Junction.  We really like this place and were hopeful to get a seat in the garden which was in shade which is exactly what we managed.  The view there is spectacular and they have some really nice lounge music in the background.  John liked the music so much that he actually asked what it was so he could find it for home which is quite unusual for him as he can often be quite ambivalent about 'sounds'.

I went for the Cyprus Breakfast again, John plumped for the Chicken Wrap.  I have to say that my breakfast was even better this time as there was no 'snot' evident on the top of the eggs.  I can manage a bit of snot but John wont have any after years of poorly cooked fried eggs in the Navy!

It was lovely sitting there, enjoying a bit of a breeze, an excellent frappe and some great food.  Even better this was less than €20!  We have actually said that if we can go out and have a nice lunch for a reasonable price this is better for us as prices in the restaurants in the evening are rocketing.  Until John gets an uplift on his pension we have to be a bit more careful with our disposable income.  Fortunately this isn't too far away.  We have been lucky enough to live off of the same amount of money for nearly 12 years without noticing much difference.in our lifestyle.

In fact we were exceptionally lucky to be able to give up work and move out here when we did because we certainly couldn't manage to do it now with all the new requirements for someone from a non-EU country wishing to do so and we are grateful that much of the work done to the house like double glazing and solar and photovoltaic panels have helped with the efficiency of our home.

We had a quiet afternoon and then as the temperatures began to cool slightly we took ourselves up onto the roof terrace to enjoy the sunset.  There is a weather warning out again for tomorrow and the next few days - tipped to get up to about 40 degrees.  We are eternally grateful that we chose to live above the humidity line as this makes it just about bearable.  Actually we haven't used the aircon in the spare room yet but are sure that Laura and Mark will take advantage when they are over.
