Super Sunday

I think slowly but surely Blogger (which I use to create this blog) is becoming defunct because lots of the functionality is being removed including the ability for readers to have the blog delivered by email.  That stopped at the end of July and there is no replacement.   I guess the world now revolves around Insta and Tik-Tok and a blog is deemed to be somewhat old fashioned.

Today we were having both Mum and Lilian up for lunch - Lilian has just returned from a long trip away which incorporated a holiday in Croatia.  From the photographs she showed us it looked amazing - really beautiful.  I don't know what it is about Mum's visits but she seems to time them for a day when it is very windy!  It did calm down enough for both Lilian and Mum to have a bob around in the pool before we ate which was good.   I am on a mission to find Mum a swimming costume which has some lycra in it sooner rather than later because the one I gave her has lost all its stretch and is exceptionally baggy around the bum.

Today we were having barbequed Pork Tenderloin which I was serving with some paprika wedges, coleslaw and a green salad.  The tenderloins were from Shuks - they must have come from some pretty big piggies as they were huge!  I had poached them first and finished them off on the grill so that they were moist and tender.  We are always on a winner with something with barbeque sauce and coleslaw as far as Mum is concerned and Lilian always seems to enjoy my food.

John had been out earlier to get some figs as one of our choices for pudding.  Lilian likes figs and I like figs so I baked some with honey and cinnamon - normally I add a sliver of fetta and a basil leaf but I didn't have any fetta.  Lilian had not had them like that before and really liked them so I gave her the remainder of John's haul to take home with her as we can get plenty more.

It was a nice afternoon, having Lilian there helps with the flow of conversation - she and Mum obviously get on well and Mum has really missed her company over the last few weeks.  They left us around 4pm and arrived back safe and sound.

We had invited Argy and Lakis to come for a drink with their friends Sotiroula and George.  The boys retired to the lounge to watch the Man City game whilst we girlies sat in the conservatory chatting.  Sotiroula is such an interesting character - she is currently recovering from a kidney transplant after five years of being on dialysis.  She is amazing!
