I had a day of cleaning today getting ready for our first lot of visitors - I am not sure they will take any notice but I, at least, will know that the errant cat fur has been hoovered up but if Charlie is still pulling his out I will need to do it again tomorrow!!!
It is really too hot and sticky for housework - at least that is my excuse but the weather is unusually sticky and the forecast is for a bit of rain mid-week which is typical as the family arrive on Wednesday!
As part of my cleaning it was necessary to move the Cash Cow or Pig as we call it - it is where we dump our small coins, 1,2,5,10 and 20 cents and have done so for a while - the Pig is now too heavy for me to lift. So we decided that we would do our holiday/family shopping on Wednesday so it is fresh in the Corner House and take the coinage down to Paps now that the coinage machine is back working. Apparently you bung the coins in and the machine counts it and then it takes a percentage and issues you with a voucher which you have to spend on that day.
As we had no idea how much was inside we made the decision to empty it and have a quick count up or rather we thought we would weigh a quantity of each denomination then sort the coins and weigh and get a rough idea of how much we wanted to take with us because we don't want to spend it for spending sake!
Well this was a labour of love I can tell you but in amongst all the coins we found quite a few euros and 50cent coins so we were obviously feeling flush on those occasions or visitors had discarded their last few remaining coins in the Pig's direction!
We weighed the coins and then sorted them before totting up the proceeds. It is dirty work and the coins made my hands itch but eventually we came up with a figure which was in excess of €200!!!! woo hoo the Wiseman/Ashton clan will be able to have breakfast at least!!!
So the plan is that either tomorrow or Wednesday we will go spend our windfall. Tomorrow we are due to catch up with Carole and Paul Venner who are back at the Souli after a covid enforced break - it will be lovely to catch up and I know the cats will be pleased because Carole was picking up some Lick-e-Lix for them.
We can get the key to the Corner House tomorrow afternoon and then in the evening we have been contacted by some Droushia Newbies, Rachel and Mark, who want to grab us for a drink and a chat before we are in full on visitor mode so we are going to nip into the village to see them early evening.

I had a phonecall this afternoon from the courier who was delivering my parcel from a company called Shein. We struggle to get reasonably priced, reasonable quality clothes that will fit John and since Brexit the choice has got even worse but lots of people on Social Media have been talking about Shein. It is undoubtedly Chinese but somehow they manage to provide a service whereby the customer does not have any additional charges upon delivery. I was a bit skeptical so we looked at their sizing chart and it transpired that John was 2XL which is actually about right I would have thought - he doesn't like baggy but he does want to wear things at least more than once before they shrink in the wash and sun!!!
I told him to chose a few tops which would be his Birthday present and we ordered them the second week of August and waited for their arrival. The tracking information was a bit unclear but out of the blue today I had the call from the courier to say he was outside the church in Droushia and so John shot down to get the parcel.
I have to say we were very impressed - the sizing was pretty accurate and the quality of the material and styling much better than we had anticipated so I think it is fair to say that we will be using this service in the future when John needs so cheap day to day clothes. Every item came nicely packed in zip lock bags so we are saving them because we are always on the hunt for them!
