Pussy Cat, Pussy Cat

We are currently charged with feeding Nicky and Mark's three cats, Roxy, Noodles and Tabitha.  That is absolutely fine except we aren't familiar with their routines so we like to know that we have seen each one of them at least once during the day.  This morning there was no sign of any of them so I went on a wander and found Roxy (above) outside Persephone's house minus her collar.  This was a bit of a bugger because on their collars are the magnets needed to get in through the cat flap.  I was concerned that poor Roxy had been locked out all night.  She was very vocal and very needy wanting to be cuddled so I picked her up and took her home and gave her plenty of cuddles and then contacted Nicky about the collar.  Apparently I needn't have worried because they have deactivated the bit that requires the magnet for access and egress but then that worried me because I had assumed that only these three could get in and out and so if food was missing it was because they had eaten it and now I know that might not have been the case.  Throughout the course of the day we checked to see if either of the other two had pitched up but didn't see them so I went on another wander and eventually found Tabitha under a car.  She started to follow me back home only to see Charlie bearing down on her so I picked her up and she kicked back and scratched me all down my front.  Eventually John spotted Noodles on top of Richard's roof, she had her own ideas about whether or not she was going to come down but phew at last sight of all three - we will be able to sleep.

I am also looking after the plants in pots outside Persephone's.  I had thought they might be here this weekend (today is a Bank Holiday) but probably because they are having work done to their roof they decided against it.  Let's hope it doesn't rain (not supposed to this weekend) because today all the tiles had been removed!

After a relatively quiet day when I got the food ready for tomorrow as Mum and Lilian are coming we had decided to get a Thai takeaway from The Farmyard and had asked Jan and Derek if they wanted one - it was Jan's birthday yesterday and they are still working like trojans on their house.

We had also learned that it will be Pete across the road's birthday tomorrow so we asked them if they wanted one fetching as they are also in a bit of chaos with their building works going on.  Everyone was up for it so I made sure that Rachel could cope with a large order and we agreed on 6.30ish pickup and by that time I was ravenous.

Gail had kindly brought me over a plant to say thank-you for hosting the takeaway evening and allowing her to bring over a cake so that we could celebrate Pete's birthday.  She brought a lovely pin cushion chrysanthemum in a beautiful claret colour.

We planned to eat indoors because often at this time of the year it can be cool and damp outside.  How wrong could we be????  Today was very hot and the evening was warm and slightly humid so we did eat in but then quickly moved outside where it was more pleasant.

Wow the takeaway was absolutely amazing.  Our chicken satay, as you can see from the look on John's face, was just about at our top level of spiciness!!!  Everyone really enjoyed their food - Derek is missing at this point but made up for lost time as soon as he arrived.

Good job we had invited the neighbours because we were pretty noisy sat outside until it was Pete's birthday proper!!!  A lovely evening and enjoyed by all!
