We had organised to charter a boat from Latchi this morning so it was an early start for us as our briefing was at 8.30am at Latchi Watersports. Our vessel for the morning was Prince Harry - rather poignant when you think that the Queen's Funeral is tomorrow.
It was quite a bumpy and wet ride out to the Blue Lagoon. We decided to go there first and then slowly make our way back to the harbour. It was a lovely sunny day but windy so it didn't actually feel too hot. Laura is not a lover of boats and I am ok unless we are just bobbing - we just bobbed at the beginning when the boys were getting their anchor briefing and we were just bobbing when we waited to get someone from Latchi Watersports to board so that they could take us back into the harbour.
Blue Lagoon was lovely - we decided to drop anchor on the left hand side of the lagoon and go swim. The water was warm and clear. The boys being ex-Navy boys made sure that the anchor was firm - I smiled really when I looked at some of the people that were given responsibility of quite an expensive craft who just threw their anchor willy-nilly and all shot off the boat without worrying about whether it would still be there when they got back!
We moved slowly back to the harbour via all the small bays which were marked on the map, Manolis Bay which we have always called Kingfisher Bay as we had seen loads there previously and Amphitheatre Bay. What we were really looking for was the 'secret' beach - an area where, if you swim through a cave, you come out onto a tiny little beautiful beach. It is not easy to find even when you have a rough idea of where you are looking!
We found it and although we were moored quite far out and although I am not a very strong swimmer I managed to swim from our boat to the beach and back. At the beach there was a pallet with a sunlounge cushion on it and I sat there watching kingfishers flying in and out - it was magical. Mark made the same swim which I was quite glad about because I thought if I got into difficulties he would be nearby but I made it.
It was a lovely trip. We made it back to the harbour wall but had to wait a while before we were taken in and off. We decided to lunch at Molos and it was a good decision as we all had a nice meal but we were shattered, windswept and sporting red faces and limbs. We returned home and all went off for a snooze!!!
We managed to shake a leg and have something to eat before walking into the village where we first stopped at the Corner House for a drink with the Crew (who had been to lunch with Mum and Lilian at Porto Antico). Jackie was feeling better after her impromptu break dancing so we walked into the village and had a drink or two at Finnikas where some of Marina's kittens were availing themselves to some leftovers!!!
After a very jolly evening with a lot of laughs we wandered back leaving the Crew at the Corner House and were planning on going straight home when Giorgo was outside Lakis and Argy so we ended up going in and having a drink with them (and Sotiroula) - it was a perfect end to a lovely day.
Tomorrow is going to be one of respect watching the funeral.
