Happy Birthday Ellen

We had been invited out this evening by Ellen to celebrate her birthday so we were trying to pace ourselves in terms of food intake.  We were going down to an Italian in Coral Bay, Ellen's treat for all that we did for her and Richard in helping them secure their forever homes.  We opted for brunch and with some bacon and tomatoes to eat up that seemed like a great idea.  I cannot believe that for years John wouldn't entertain the idea of scrambled egg but now that we have cheesy scrambled egg he loves it.

We had a lovely day just doing bits and pieces around the house.  I wanted to give the conservatory floor a wash because it looked like someone had had a party in there.  I got it clean only for Charlie to insist he had to go in there before it was dry and left little paw marks as he did.  I had a bit of a change around with the plants.  I have been growing the ones on the table from cuttings and I love the black planters they are in - a bargain from Jumbos.

Nicky and Mark are away for a couple of days celebrating a birthday at the Glamping Park which I think is Limassol way.  I have seen pictures of it and it looks lovely.

We are on cat duty so this evening I went across to feed them and then went for a wander to just see if I could locate Tabitha who was AWOL.  She is often to be seen in the green area which Andrea and Sonia have had tidied up and made into a communal garden.

I saw that Andrea had put an old table and a painted traditional chair outside with a lovely arrangement of flowers.  It is so nice to see that this has been cleared, tidied and planted up.  At long last the mess of old building materials, concrete and dross has disappeared and it has opened up the space and created more parking.  What a difference to how the estate looked when it was at its most neglected.

What started out as a bright and sunny day ended up clouding over and it felt quite chilly mid afternoon - this always makes it difficult to work out what to wear when going out - for sure it would be warmer down on the coast but how much warmer?

When I had been to craft last time I had decorated two glasses - one is earmarked as a Christmas present and the other for Ellen for her birthday.  Thinking about her colour scheme I decided that the one with the gold rim would be best.

I took it round in the afternoon, I didn't want to have to take this down to Coral Bay!  Ellen had her friend Joan with her.  Joan lives part of her time in Emba, she actually lives in one of the town houses that was built on the road just before where Mum and Dad's house had been built.  When she is back in the UK she lives in Newton Ferrers.  She knows the beautiful fisherman's cottage that belonged to our lovely friends Joani and Roger and she knew the hotel that Joani's parents had, Langdon Court.  Joan was originally from Bristol so she also knew Yeovil quite well.  It is a small world.

Ellen, Joan, Richard, John and I were going out.  John had arranged for Tassos to taxi us down and back in the mini bus - (a) because there were five of us and (b) Joan is recovering from a fractured hip and didn't want to be squeezed in a car as it is still quite painful.

We had a lovely evening - it is so rare for John and I to go down to Coral Bay to eat - the last time was to the Asian restaurant with Di and Rob - I think it was called The Golden Gate.  This time we went to Tratoria La Vigna - an Italian with is a favourite of Ellen's from when she and Richard lived down near Sea Caves.  John and I are clearly out of touch with prices in the more Tourist areas - no wonder so many people opt for all inclusive!  I think 12 euros for a starter is far too much and we weren't paying!!!
