It is all about FOOD!!!

This morning was all about avoiding the 7P's (this was quite apt really because my lovely friend Elena wanted the 7P's on her gravestone and lord bless her today was the anniversary of her passing).  Proper Prior Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

Carried out like a Military Operation - and knowing John you would expect nothing less - we got ready what we could for the Christmas Dinner we are having on Sunday.

Bread sauce was made, tick, pigs in blankets prepared, tick, stuffing made, tick, caramelised onions cooked for the starter, tick, turkey marinating, tick, vegetables cleaned, tick.

We are going to have a drink at the Droushia Heights first, then we will come home and have our starters before opening the gifts we have bought for each other which had to cost no more than 5 euros.  We will then have our main meal and follow that with the present game.  Finally we will have our pudding before we encourage our guests to go home at a reasonable time particularly as bad weather is forecast for tomorrow.

Having got everything sorted to our satisfaction we got changed and took Gail and Pete to Fitos for Lunch.  Gail had not eaten in there previously - just had a takeaway.  They, like us, had been feeling less than 100 percent but as we all seem to be suffering with the same non-covid lurgy and we were sitting at table number 1 which was well away from any other diners we thought we would be ok.  We had a lovely lunch.  Gail, Pete and I all plumped for the legendary Fitos Beef Pie whilst John had the Lamb Tavas.

When we returned we did a bit of sorting out in and around the house.  I changed the tablecloth on the dining table and put all the decorations on it.  Hopefully it will look festive.  I even got the bows out that I had on the chairs for my 60th birthday.  I think the house is ready as I had cleaned the conservatory floor earlier in the morning when John had popped out for a bike ride - without Pete whose chest wasn't up to it or Richard who has visitors.

On that subject we got a call from Richard early evening to say that his mum's house, where the visitors are staying was without power, it seems like they had been running too many electrical items in one go for the circuit to cope.  We gave him the emergency number for the electricity board and he called back to say that they were on their way and a little afterwards he called to say that they had been and sorted everything out much to their relief.

We had a text from Rob who had been up earlier in the day.  He had dropped off cards for us.  I am not sure if he came whilst we were out or whether our temperamental door bell had failed to function but we had missed which which was a shame.  I had cards for him and Di so we will need to pop them down tomorrow otherwise Christmas will have been and gone.

We had a lovely quiet evening - watching some TV.  We managed to find The Amazing Maurice which is a new Christmas Cartoon which was quite enjoyable and then we watched a four part thriller called Witness Number 3 - it had been broadcast on Channel 5 earlier in the year and was really quite gripping.  Well it must have been because we stayed up to watch the whole thing which is most unusual for us!  It was all very warm and snuggly in the lounge - Mr Boo was away with the fairies bless him.
