Another glorious day, in Droushia at least, on the coast there was an offshore wind which meant that it was bracing - not quite Skegness because the sky and the sea was a wonderful shade of blue but you get my drift. John and I had decided to go do some shopping to restock after Christmas and take in a walk along the coastal path. Hoodies were a last minute grab, intending that they would stay in the car 'just in case'!!
It was still wonderful to be out in the fresh air. This sort of day in January should be embraced to the full because we have yet to reach the time of year when we just might get some snow up in Droushia. We decided that we would walk to Porto Latchi to see if the ice-cream place was open. I was convinced it would be closed, John was convinced it would be open - he was right.
I love John's photographic skills, he managed to get the shadow right down the middle of my face! Anyway not only was the ice-cream place open I reckon the girlie was trying to get rid of the little stock they had remaining because my one scoop of mandarin was humungous and I felt quite sick after I had completed eating it, sick and with exceptionally sticky hands so I had to wander across the road to use the toilets. I can't say, in all the years I have been to Latchi, that I have ever been inside Porto Latchi building before.
There were quite a lot of people about including two nutters who were braving the sea - it was very rough and you could see that there was quite a current dragging the pebbles off the beach so I hope they were strong and confident swimmers otherwise they could have ended their day being sucked out to sea and heading for the coast of Turkey.
We nipped to Paps for some shopping. Richard is coming for a curry on Friday. Friday is a bank holiday on the island - Epiphany. This is a biggie so lots of places will close - traditionally this would have been celebrated as the day the Three Kings brought their gifts and for many European Countries is their 'Christmas Day'.
