2nd February

Today was a very different day to yesterday.  No rain and some reasonable amounts of sunshine but the wind was cold, raw even.  We were up early because we were expecting CYTA (Cyprus Telecomms) here because they have found a fault on our line.  John had had a full and frank discussion with the techie (whose name was Stephan) who answered our call yesterday when our internet was up and down like whores drawers - it drives John demented.  Anyway having almost told Stephan where he could stick his megabytes Stephan took responsibility and actually spent time discovering that there was indeed an issue.  Today's techie confirmed that the fault was not in the house which was good because that then generally becomes our responsibility and therefore cost but it was outside somewhere between the house and the inspection pit thingy in the pavement by the road.

I had hoped to be feeling much more tickety-boo by today but nooooo I am feeling like I have an elephant hanging off my chest - my drippy cold symptoms have disappeared by been replaced by aches and a thick head.  John asked for some soup so I threw together a Thai carrot and peanut soup which I hoped with have enough flavour and spice to excite my dulled taste-buds.  I made this the first time as part of a Vegan meal for Stalker No1 Wendy's daughter-in-law Georgia although she wasn't then married to Wendy's son Robert.  It was a real winner - that time I didn't put in potato but I was a bit low on carrots today.

John felt sorry for me this afternoon and decided that we should, as we had planned, have a takeaway although without Richard because (a) I didn't want to pass anything on to him and (b) the stupid boy had forgotten anyway!  We chose to have our regular Thai combo from The Farmyard.  This means that we have spring rolls with sweet chili sauce and chicken satay with a super hot satay sauce to start and follow this with egg fried rice and honey chicken with extra chili.  We order enough for us to have again on another evening.  Charlie was interested in the whole aroma of it all but think he realised that it was all going to be far too spicy for him!  It was everything we had hoped for and even better we can have it all again tomorrow or Saturday.

The cats' health is still a cause for concern.  I would say that Boris is about 85 percent back to normal but still has noisy breathing and sniffles.  Charlie is about 75 percent fit - he is even more lethargic than normal and his voice is considerably quieter than previously and he isn't eating very much but Minnie is looking so frail and unkempt and has the quietest of quiet squeaks.  She has been eating small amounts but nothing like her normal appetite and her fur looks dreadful.  She is still cleaning but her fur is all sticky.

I am very worried about her - she has at least stopped hiding away in one of the drawers under our bed and will come and sleep between us which is normal but she wakes herself up with awful coughing/retching fits which frighten her and us.

John keeps telling me that it is early days, she only got jabbed by the vet on Wednesday so we must give it time - only trouble is that Boris seemed to perk up immediately that he had seen Bambos.
