Doing Stuff

This is Mr Boo in his "keep your hands off my blanket" pose.  He is protecting both the throw and the crocheted runner.  He loves them and stretches his paws out - to infinity and beyond - padding away to show how happy he is.  We have now declared him to be 100 back to his normal thank goodness.  It would seem, speaking to a friend in the village, that there is some mystery illness affecting the Droushia feline population.  I was contacted by Ross who bought Sheila's house to ask about our cats' symptoms because both her cats and her friends' cats have been poorly starting with them going off their food.  Thankfully the medication dispensed by Dr Bambos looks to be very effective and as I said before it is great that he gives long lasting doses so that cats are not traumatised by the trip down the hill.

Here is Mr Boo in all his blissful glory!  He is sensible - the temperatures this week are plummeting and so he has bagged the warmest spot.  We are due a frost tonight - not surprising really and our bedroom has been hovering around 9-10 degrees when there is no heat on - I think 7 degrees is the coldest I have ever clocked it.  PJ's and Bedsocks are the order of the day or rather night.

It was a relatively sunny day today.  Cold but bright and so John and the cycling crew went out on their bikes.  I got dressed up in some nice warm clothes and actually got round to doing a bit of gardening.  The cold winds and hail have knocked things about so there are a lot of wet leaves and rubbish littering the garden.

Down the pathway that leads to our house the honeysuckle which belongs to Gregoris and Dora and which is growing over an archway looks like it has been struck by a flame-thrower and a load of leaves have come down.  I had contemplated sweeping them up and putting them down in the communal compost bin but on closer inspection it would look like the plant had been affected by an infestation of mealy bug and they wont want that in the compost.  Hopefully this cold snap will kill them off .

I cleaned up the pathway, cleaned up any detritus in our garden and cut back one huge lavender from the front garden.  I cut off any of the lavender flowers and have strung them up to dry along with a load of oregano.

It was lovely to be outside but after that bit of exercise I was absolutely knackered.  John was stopping off at Fitos with the boys for a sandwich so I settled down to a nice cup of coffee and a biscuit before deciding that I would tackle the ironing.

I had managed to get a couple of loads washed, out on the line and dried which was amazing so thought I would be good and iron it and anything else I could find in the spare bedroom which is where it tends to get dumped.  We got a message from my cousin Michelle at the weekend asking if she could come and stay in April for a few days, which of course she can, but it did remind me that the spare bedroom is our guest bedroom and it wouldn't hurt to keep it ready for guests.

I did the ironing the best that I could but my iron seems to be on its way out because it doesn't seem to be getting hot enough nor creating sufficient steam.  I hate ironing at the best of times but when I do it and it feels like it is wasted effort it is even worse.  I text my lovely neighbour Jan to see if I could order one and have it sent to her.  She said I could - I can't tell her how grateful I am.  I managed to go on a couple of comparison sites to find out which irons are being recommended and managed to get one from Amazon which had 50 percent off.  Let's hope it is as good as it says it is.

Late night for John watching the Mighty Blades grind out a win in the FA Cup - a replay against non-league side Wrexham.  They do like to make hard work of things.  I didn't stay up I donned my bed socks and threw Charlie on my legs to keep me warm.
