Out, out!

John was out on his bike with the boys today only today he had borrowed Richard's old bike because his own bike has an issue with the brakes which John could not fix.  I spent time in the garden before getting ready to go out with the Lordos Lushes.  I had thought I had booked an appointment at the Hotel to have my toes done but actually I had made it for tomorrow and now I am going to be going down to Mums as Lumi can cut my hair tomorrow.

We have new flowers flowering in the garden - some fabulous deep blue irises - sadly they don't flower for long but they add a lovely splash of colour.

It was the hottest day of the year today and I contemplated going into the pool as the water temperature had risen to 19 degrees but I was too busy and time was tight.  Hadge, our memorial rose, has a resident ladybird which is good for keeping the aphids at bay.  I am trying to straighten up the stem - I had the pot too close to the shed and so it was growing out towards the light.

We have a poorly cat again.  Miss Minnie has completely lost her voice - there is nothing, not the merest sound coming from her.  I had said to John the other day that I didn't think she was 100% - she just seemed out of sorts and her fur goes all claggy when she is feeling under the weather.

Unlike the last time this happened she has not, as yet, stopped eating although she is swallowing like she has some barbed wire in her throat.  She came out to sit in the garden with me.  John had put some Lick-e-Lix in the fridge so that we could give them to her and they would be cool and hopefully soothing.

I worry about her - she is such a tiny delicate thing and we know that taking her to the vets completely stresses her out.  Fortunately my cousin Michelle who is coming on Saturday is a veterinary nurse for a practice which deals solely with cats so I text her to ask her if I should take her down sooner rather than later.  She said later that apparently cats can get viral laryngitis and providing it was mild it would sort itself.  Time will tell

So John returned home from his ride and I got myself ready to go out with the Lushes.  A full house this week with Belinda, Gail, Nicky, Janet, Ellen and me going up to Kaponas.  There would be no problem sitting outside today as the weather was glorious.

We had a lovely afternoon filled with lots of laughter, alcohol and food.  I decided to steer clear of wine today as it seems to aggravate my hernia and opted for gin and tonic instead - I wouldn't know whether that was a wise decision until the early hours of tomorrow morning.  Whilst there I arranged with Eleni for the lunch we are having next week for Graham's birthday and she is going to get the cake which will save me a job.

It was an important match for the Mighty Blades tonight, I left John to it because kick-off wasn't until 10.00pm.  As I had started to get Michelle's room ready he is banned from there - normally I would suggest he sleep in there on a late night!
