Bring on the Branston

We have some lovely friends - Mike presented me with four bottles of my beloved Branston Sauce.  I will compromise on most things but not not not never on brown sauce.  It has to be Branston nothing else tastes the same.  I shall eke it out - for special occasions only - John isn't bothered so this should last me for a long long time if I am careful.  I am in heaven.  Thank you Mike - big kisses xxx

So today I was picking up Lilian and going over to Mum's with her and on our marathon whirlwind visit to various shops and establishments I was taking Mum to have her eyes tested.

We had done Lidl, Cycleband, Cyprus Emall, Sklavenitis etc etc and then headed off to the Old Town and the opticians.  There is now a new 'smart' system for paying for parking which I haven't used before.  I do have the app on my phone but you can also text.  Every parking space on this new smart system has a number and you have to text 9191 with that number.  You then get a text back acknowledging you have parked and telling you how much has been deducted (presumably from your phone credit - I am not sure I have given any other details for payment) and tell you when you have to leave.  Shortly before your time is up they text again to point this out and tell you to either pay more or move your car.  I didn't notice anyone else bothering but I know my luck and thought for a euro I wasn't going to get into trouble.

Mum was in and out of having her eyes tested in about 29 minutes so we were all good.  Her good eye's prescription has changed because her astigmatism has changed - her new lenses will be ready next week so I can take her down to get them changed.

Lilian was so pleased to be out and about and seeing Mum that she kindly offered to take us to lunch.  Mum was pleased as we went to St Georgio's which she really likes even though there is only one thing on the menu she likes to eat - meatballs, and bless Lilian she takes the hit and shares with her even though she could eat the meal on her own.

John and I were going out for a meal at Argy and Lakis's this evening which I knew would be mountainous so I opted for a salad.

This was my rocket salad which I expected to be a small snackette - it was full of tomatoes and sundried tomatoes and mini mozzarella, parmesan and prosciutto.  I avoided the bread sticks on the top and made a reasonable stab at the remainder which was absolutely delicious.  Good job we ate early because otherwise I knew I wouldn't be able to make a dent in my Kyriakides Supper.

We had a lovely evening with Lakis and Argy.  Their neighbours George and Ruba and the baby in 3a moved out today so we were surmising who would go in there next.  Time will tell.

Argy is an outstanding cook but caters for a busload of nurses from Elgin and the driver!!!! We started with salad and dips, olives etc then had a bowl of salad and stuffed vine leaves (for me stuffed tomato) and some amazing roast lamb and roast potatoes all rounded off with a sort of fruit fool thing, fresh fruit salad and ice-cream from the lovely ice-cream place in Prodromi.  By the end of it all I was absolutely stuffed to the gills!!!!

Thank you Argy and Lakis - a great night, great food and great company.
