A Lovely Sunday

I am slowly coming to the realisation that I cannot find enough of interest to blog every day - it isn't really a problem at the moment as I have plenty of entries in the bag ready to post.  When I sat down yesterday I looked and found I hadn't taken a single photograph during the day so guess I wouldn't have had much to write about!

Today however was different and we did take photographs.  We had decided to take Mum out for lunch and had arranged to meet with Lilian and her sister Alison as a surprise.  Mum had thought that because Lilian had her sister staying she wouldn't see her.  We had decided to go back to Vardas Seacret where we went with my sister for a special family meal and we had booked a table by the beach so although Mum didn't know where we were going we had warned her to arm herself with a hat, cardi and cushions - it's a bit like taking a child out - we need a bag of essentials to get us through a meal!

Lilian made it after a slight detour and a phonecall to check where the turning is.  I have to be fair it isn't that easy to see when you are travelling from the Peyia direction as the entrance is somewhat hidden by the Capital Gold Coast Hotel.  Thankfully they have had the slip road surfaced since we came with my sister.

It was an exceptionally hot day today so we were very glad not to be indoors which is Mum's preference - there was a little bit of air movement to keep us cool but not much.

Mum was on quite good form.  We think we have finally got through to her that with her sugar and sodium levels being low she is in a fortunate position not to have to worry about things that most of us have to be very careful of.  We took her glucose readings and her blood pressure - they are both low and I will do it again on Wednesday when I am going down to see her again.

She seemed to enjoy the afternoon and made a good stab at eating her meal of fried halloumi with a fig and mint sauce and fries.  The venue, the staff and the view are amazing.  The food is good but just falls short of the mark somehow.  John and I had a steak sandwich - we preferred the ones we get at Molos not least because the pieces of steak here are too big to eat without a knife and fork!

We had invited Lakis and Argy to come round for a drink this evening.  It was a lovely warm and balmy evening and we had a good catch up - we never seem to tire of something to talk about, or plan.  We are so pleased for them that this year their sons and families are coming over - it has been Lakis and Argy's dream to show off their Droushia home in all its glory and this year they will get the chance.  Even though it will be perfect Argy is panicking and has a long list of shopping of things she wants for the grandchildren so she is dragging Lakis off to Paphos tomorrow.

Argy arrived clutching a bag of home grown plums from our neighbour Persephone.  They looked amazing so I will have to drop her a quick text to thank her.  Not sure what I will do with these but if they are not overly ripe John will eat them as is.  It was very kind of her to think of us.

I cannot believe how incredibly warm it was tonight - so lovely to be able to sit outside and we had lots of coils and cones burning to try and keep the iggies away.  Unfortunately I think I was sat over an ants nest as I kept feeling them crawling up my legs!!!  All in all a lovely day.
