We were awake ridiculously early this morning so witnessed the sun rising - John suggested going for a walk and I agreed and we were out and back before 7.30am when normally we would still be languishing in our pit!!! It was so worth the effort and, if we had left it any later, would have been much too hot to contemplate.
There was very little activity that early in the morning even the young horse at the top of the road seemed surprised to see us. We weren't a pretty sight having jumped up straight out of bed complete with bed head and thrown on our walking gear!
We did the usual route down through Inea and walked through the churchyard past the old olive tree which I love. When we first moved out Inea was, I am sure people would admit, quite scruffy but now so much has been done to it to tidy it up. There is a positive feeling about the place and as we walked through the centre past the coffee shops we were greeted with cheery waves from the old guys, and the not so old guys enjoying the cool of the morning with a chat and a coffee with their neighbours.
We came back into Droushia and down past Palates Hotel. Our progress was monitored by a handsome cat who looked like he could have been Boris's Dad! He had a nick in his ear which denotes that he has been neutered. We didn't disturb him and continued down through the village to the cemetery to check on Dad.
All was good at the cemetery. The plant which Kaye had bought and put on the grave was still flowering well - we watered it and said good morning to a Cypriot lady who was tidying some graves then made our way back home. The artichokes are flowering in the field just before the Skrimmers. They are the most vibrant purple.
We have Nicky and Mark coming for a barbeque tomorrow - John has planned to do Souvla but our trusty rusty old Fukou (Cypriot BBQ) was much more rusty than trusty and had a whole in the bottom so we shot off down to Peyia to get a replacement. The BBQ along with all the skewers etc was €75 which wasn't too bad - we reckon our original one was at least €60 when we bought it years ago. As we were down in Peyia near lunchtime we decided to pop into Oasis for something to eat. I opted for the spicy tortilla thingy which was very nice and John had the giros and said it was amazing.
