A lovely catch-up

Today we managed to catch up with Sheila and Klaus and had arranged to have lunch at Akakiko in Polis.  It is such a lovely building inside and actually it was too warm to contemplate eating outside today so we chose the table in the corner that we had last sat at with John's Mum, Jackie and Stan last year when we visited.

Sheila and Klaus arrived shortly afterwards both looking well which belied the fact that they had both been very poorly since we had seen them last.  Thankfully they are both now on the mend but it got me to thinking that we should, irrespective of visitors, try and make sure we get to see them more regularly than we have done of late because you just never know what is round the corner.

John and I were trying to think what we had eaten with them here the last time.  Fortunately I had recorded it on the blog so knew that we had shared a selection of starters and, although the menu has changed a bit, we were able to do so again today which meant that we had a lovely selection and a good amount of food for a reasonable price.  Chicken fried rice, Chicken fried noodles, Prawn toasts, Katsu Chicken and this time Duck spring rolls.  With a drink each and a tip this worked out to 15 euros a head.

We decided to retire to Sheila and Klaus's for a coffee so followed them back to Goudi for an hour or so before we headed back into Polis to do a bit of shopping.  It had been really lovely to see them and I can't tell you how relieved we were to see that they were both in the road to full recovery.

We needed to do a bit of shopping in Paps and Mas in Polis.  We have asked Jan and Derek to come round on Monday for something to eat as we really haven't seen much of them this visit and before we know it they will be heading back to the UK.  We can hear them hard at work and have had a couple of conversations over the garden fence but that is about it.

It was exceptionally quiet in Paps which was good and we managed to get just about everything we needed - I have decided to do a Stifado and Cypriot roast potatoes with veg for the main meal and a Cypriot Filo Orange Cake for the pudding.

We returned home a bit later than anticipated but that was fine - after a lovely lunch we really didn't need much more to eat so settled down for a nice quiet evening and a couple of episodes of the serial BODIES that our friend Kim recommended.  It has certainly grabbed our attention as the action takes place over four time zones all based on the same story line.

Argy was having her operation today - we have been thinking about her and the family and hope that everything goes well.  Like I said earlier - you never know what is round the corner 😞
