I was very grateful that our lovely neighbours had invited us for supper on Tuesday. Argy had cooked a leg of lamb and her legendary potatoes and it was absolutely delicious.
We are very conscious that their time in Droushia is fast running out - they fly to Athens on Sunday to celebrate Argy's special birthday with the family before returning to London. So along with supper on Tuesday we have booked to go to the Farmyard for Thai on Friday and we have decided to pay for them because we are struggling to find something for Argy's birthday. We had found a lovely Pandora charm which we were going to have engraved. I placed the order and got to the point of paying and then the computer said NO they wouldn't take my order with a bank card that was not registered to an address in the UK. REALLY? I mean REALLY in this day and age they wouldn't accept a card from a major UK Bank because my address is outside the UK. I was so disappointed but then I spotted that Argy's Pandora bracelet looked to be pretty full so maybe there wouldn't have been room for our charm anyway.
Because I was pretty tired from my traveling and because I had a drippy nose we decided that the remainder of the week should be fairly quiet.
On Wednesday morning I had physio - I don't actually have to do much except lay on the bed and let the equipment do the work and when Socrates put a heat lamp on my back I nearly fell asleep. The morning had started brightly enough but on the way home the clouds were gathering and we ended up having a very wet evening with a powercut. Poor Malcolm and Louise were flying over and we had to warn them that they might arrive in darkness. By the time they did arrive (severely delayed) the electric was back on but we had a scheduled cut for the following morning.
Thursday I went to see Mum and took her to the cardiologist where she had all her tests and continues to be declared a Miracle as she is asymptomatic with regards to her severely leaky valve. So we just carry on doing what we are doing until or unless the situation changes. The weather today was appalling - heavy heavy rain and a scheduled powercut meant John had a fairly boring morning whilst I was away.
Friday we decided to do some sorting out but not before we had paid a visit to the Garden Centre to get some compost and have a cup of tea and a bacon buttie.
