November 26th and a Sunday and there is only one word to describe the day... VILE!
The island welcomed (if you can call it that) the scheduled coptic storm which is called El Mickness and is a Broom Gale. No shit Sherlock it was more like a Hurricane.
First thing is was dry but oh so windy. Things were flying all over the place and we were busy battening down the hatches. I had everything ready for lunch down at Mums and we were planning to leave at 11.00 to be down with her for around 12.00 but the weather had a different idea. By 11.00 we were in the middle of a monsoon like storm...
We reluctantly decided it would be foolish to travel down to Emba to shovel down our lunch and then race back and Mum agreed with us. Our decision was that if the weather forecast was correct tomorrow would be a much better option and Mum was more than happy with our decision. She had food in and she knew she didn't have to worry about us traveling.
My trip outside in the rain wreaked havoc with my hair - it was no longer wavy so I had to blow dry it to do something with it but at least it had some body.
We decided to get dressed up warmly and sort something out for our meal as what I had planned was put back into the fridge in readiness for tomorrow.
A scour of the freezer revealed that we had a nice pork tenderloin in there and a bag of green beans so I found a recipe for a stir fry which incorporated both.
We settled down to watch some TV - there were a couple of football matches that John wanted to watch and I decided to get the entries for the current Lockdown Challenge ready for publishing tomorrow. I just refer to it as the Droushia Challenge now and have contemplated knocking it on the head a couple of times but I know that a few of the people who enter are no longer in a position to attend a group and so contribute via What's App. I am always conscious that being part of a community even if it is only an online one can be the only contact some people get with others so next year the challenge will be monthly for as many or as few as wish to enter.
The pork stir fry was a real success. I added some peppers and some baby sweetcorn and served it with some flat ribbon pasta and it was really delicious - if I do say so myself. I plan that we will have something similar when my sister is here - she doesn't eat dairy so this is perfect.
