Well we have had a lovely day today. Even though we were earmarked for a lie in the sun still manages to creep in through the top of the shutters and slap us round the face a bit so that we wake up earlier than we had bargained for.
The break did us good because we came back and got the sink fitted and the curtain poles up. Progress is being made
Late this afternoon we went to Latchi with Sharon and Sean as Sean and John were keen to try some fishing off the harbour. John particularly so as he wanted to try out the fishing gear that Trev had given him.
The local port cats also came along to see what was occurring. They were very friendly and for feral animals in very good condition. In Latchi they have a scheme to look after the port cats because they keep the rodent population down - just as well as they were going to be very disappointed by the lack of catch from the boys! Tigger looks bored waiting...
This morning our plan was to get the sink fitted but we encountered some problems with the pipes that attach the taps to the water supply (they were too short) so John had to go off to Polis to see if he could find some longer ones. We also had to do some modifications to the curtain poles that I had bought in order to try and get them to fit.
It was very very hot today so as things werent quite going to plan we decided to take a walk into the village, check the post and frequent one of the tavernas - treating ourselves to a beer and a coffee (diplo metrio for me as I am embracing traditional Cypriot coffee but only if it has been sweetened). At the end of the day we started out in Stathmos and then called into Cristos John calls it spreading the wealth! Drinks in Stathmos were cheaper but in Cristos we were given a plate of local pecan nuts so you pays your money and you takes your choice!!

I absolutely love Latchi - it is beautiful and particularly so this afternoon. Sitting down at the harbour was very warm, the sea and sky were blue and the many and varied boats looked very inviting. There was some money moored up there!
John and Sean soon attracted a bit of a crowd of local boys who were fishing experts! I dont know what it is about Liam Gallagher's hats but both John and Sean were sporting one today!! The boys were full of good advice and if John and Sean could have understood a word I am sure they would have realised that Latchi fish dont like bread or sweetcorn as the locals seem to fish with some sort of gunky wallpaper paste and chilli powder! Needless to say both John and Sean were beaten to a catch by a wirey 8 year old!!

Sharon and I walked along the harbour and saw any number of fish who were all teasing the boys and giving their bait a stiff ignoring!! There were lots of little whitebaity types and then these long thin green razor fish - not the best photograph as I didnt have the correct lens on the camera but you can get an idea of what they look like.
After an hour and a half or so the boys gave up and we resorted to the fish and chip shop instead - picking up cod and chips from Tammy's for our tea.
We all piled into our house to eat the fish and chips and have a few drinks and get to know one another better. We are taking Sean and Sharon to the airport tomorrow - not a hardship as we are going down to Paphos anyway - we are going to the butcher's cocktail party and having tea with Mum and Dad.
