I cannot believe that I am doing this post whilst watching Southampton v Leeds United on the TV - the footie season has started again - where has the summer gone??
Trev, I hope that Leeds do the business against the Scummers but they have only been playing 7 minutes and there is no score as yet.
John is doing the cooking - we have Tuna steaks tonight so we will be having them with jacket potatoes and salad - trying them out before our non meat eating visitors visit us later on this year!!
We have just walked down into the village to check the post and to have a drink at Stathmos and another at Christos. Whilst there we saw Mum and Dad's neighbours Simon and Mel and at least we now know where they live.
There is a performance at the local amphitheatre (open air theatre) on Thursday night and if we are here we will wander down and check it out - we think it is a classic and all in Greek but it will be an experience but FREE!!
Nine minutes in and Scummers are one up (sorry Trev).
It has been a day of meeting new neighbours - to begin with we met Persephone who lives at 1b (to the left of this picture). She is a dentist and her husband is a doctor from Nicosia. They have two children Neofitos and Nefeli who we met with their Grandmother at Galadidia's. She seemed very nice and she (sorry Trev - 25 minutes in and Scummers have scored again) hopes to meet up with us during their three week holiday up here. We have obviously been given a good report from Galadia and Charalambous who live next door!!
We then met Angela who is a London Cypriot in the rag trade and who owns 3b (to the right of this picture). Up until now she has owned the property and the Droushia Heights hotel let it out (as we did) now she is deciding what to do with it now that the rental agreement has come to an end. Her kids have said get rid but she is keen to turn it into somewhere nice for her to holiday - she came round to see what we had done with ours and we think she has decided that she is going to do the property up. This is all good news as that will mean that the majority of properties (save those owned by the bank) have responsible owners.
Our project today was the barbeque. John has approached the Sri Lankan workers up the road to ask them to give him a hand with the top part as it is both tall and heavy. They are coming round next week. John wanted to get the bottom bit sorted beforehand so that is what we managed to do today. Looking at it we are not convinced that this is the one we thought we were ordering as it looks a lot bigger than we were expecting.
It will need to be painted and bits of it tiled but we want to get it finished before our two sets of visitors arrive - then we can use the firepit for the coals when we have finished cooking!!
John also tells me that I am looking very brown and sat in the corner whilst I am blogging I almost blend in with the leather chair and the brown curtains. Oh NOOOOOOOO Trev - 51 minutes in and Scummers are now 3-0! Neither John nor I have actually sat out in the sun specifically to get a tan - just goes to show what happens when you are outside working all day!!
Quick report on Tea - very nice and all cooked by John who is moaning that the Tuna was over-cooked - it is the first time we have tried it over here and it came in a big old cutlet a bit like salmon rather than the steaks that you get in Asda - I really enjoyed it.
63 minutes gone Trev - you will know the score - let's hope it doesnt get any worse xxx
few things to say tonight
ReplyDelete1. shut up John we love the frog blogging or is that frogging (tis from now on) never come across those species - front & back garden frogs (native to cyprus!!!!)
