Day 97...

A short post tonight because it is WELL past my bedtime at nearly quarter past eleven!!!

Today we had invited Mum and Dad's neighbours Ray and Janice to come up - Ray and John were going to watch the Charity Shield game (Man U v Man City) in one of the bars down in Latchi and Janice and I were going to do a bit of exploring and beaching.  Ray and Janice moved to Cyprus back in March - but unlike us they do not already have family or friends living out here.

They managed to find us (albeit with a phonecall from the Droushia Hills Taverna to check the remainder of the journey) and we sat out in the garden for a while before heading off to Latchi via the village so that they could see where their neighbours Simon and Mel have bought a house and also to see what the village has to offer.

We dropped the boys off at the Elia Tavern in Latchi and motored on up to Neo Chorio - stopping for a coffee in one of the tavernas before wending our way back down the hill.  We stopped half way at the viewing point to look out to sea over the Anassa Hotel and the Asprokremonos beach.  It is a stunning view and the sea was looking really inviting.

We then drove down past the Anassa Hotel and out towards the baths of Aphrodite so that I could show Janice the beach.  Much much busier this time of the year as the Cypriots are now on their annual holidays and they have such a big thing about going to the seaside.  You still cant take away the fact that it looks inviting even though when John and I went last week there was next to no-one on this stretch.

We finally came back to Latchi and set up camp on the beach using the cantilever hammocks that John and I had purchased a couple of years ago in Dubai.  We have now worked out how to make our fortune (importing cantilever hammocks) because we were asked by several people where we had got them from!!  In fact at one point we thought we had pulled when a rather strapping young man came over to speak to us - it transpired he was from Dubai but had never seen hammocks like ours (well I guess it was the hammocks he was referring to!!!).

When we came to leave the beach and pick the boys up I managed to get the car stuck in the soft sand - a bit of a bugger as for some reason John's mobile wasn't responding so I had to take the matter into my own hands and sacrificed two of the sun visors that were in the car - Janice spread them out so that I could get some purchase on them with my front wheels and eventually we got off of the beach unscathed which is more than can be said for the sun visors which were knackered in the process.

The footie result was disappointing for a Man U hater as they managed to come from 2-0 behind.  Spawnie Gits was the verdict!

We then all returned to Villa 10b so that Janice and I could get a shower to remove all traces of Latchi beach before heading off to Kathikas for a meal.  We decided to try Yiannis's taverna and werent disappointed.  We will add it to the list of must visits when our visitors are over - good food, nice surroundings and reasonable price - what more could you want?
