Well I think that the heat has finally got to us now as John disappeared early this morning to go and sleep outside and I woke up feeling like my batteries had run out of power and I have only been firing on about two cylinders all day.
All our DIY plans went out the window this morning as we just mooched around trying to get our arses into gear. We have a number of projects that we need to complete before our visitors arive in September and October and what with returning to England for my niece's wedding we are feeling a bit under pressure to get things done.
We did bump into Irene today (cat-feeding lady) and she has agreed to keep an eye on the house and water my plants for me whilst we are away which is great.
Monday is our restocking the food cupboard day and so we decided that we would go down into Polis to get some shopping. It was a calamitous trip as we are shocking at remembering the opening times of shops in general and even more so now that it is annual summer holiday time for the Cypriots.
We went to the Woodyard on the outskirts of Polis to get the wood we need to make the small flyscreen for the 'downstairs' toilet.
Should have thought about it really - this was a likely candidate to be closed for the annual holiday - and closed it was - so that particular job is going to have to wait to be completed - probably when we are back from the wedding now.
We then went off to Paps for our food shopping. You can always count on the supermarkets to be open!! Nothing untoward to report and we even found time to nip into the cafe for our regular frappe which the Romanian girl makes rather well - Multomesc (my one word of Romanian thanks to Horatiu!).
Ray was recommending a drink made from Ouzo yesterday and we know that Trev is a bit of an Ouzo drinker so we thought we might stock up - Vix likes a Cinzano so we looked around for some of that too. We found a local alternative - maybe gopping (I hope not!).
Coming back we swang by Glykis to get a new waste pipe for the sink and some exterior paint only to pitch up at a couple of minutes past 1.00pm to find it closed and doesnt reopen until 3.00pm. I did ask John if this was one of the shops which closed lunchtime but he was convinced it wasnt - I dont like to say I told you so but I TOLD YOU SO!!!! This meant that we had to go back down again this afternoon after 3.00pm and decided we would go on the bike. I armed myself with the camera as I had no pictures for today's post only to find that I had forgotten to put the memory card in it after doing the blog last night - so that was a complete waste of time - hence the rather uninspiring photographs today.
We got back home just after 4.00pm and the swimming pool was just calling out to us so all thoughts of any DIY went out the window and we took advantage of the cooling water. John reminded me that I hadn't changed the top photograph yesterday so we messed about trying to use the timer on the camera to take a picture of us in the pool.
Apologies that the one I have chosen for the top is slightly out of focus!!! We had a number where either John or I hadn't quite got in the picture before the shutter went off - one where it looked like John was sticking his finger up at the camera (he wasn't) - another where I missed us all together - and this one where I cut off John's hand!
A lazy evening is about to follow - tomorrow will be DIY day.
I don't know about cutting John's hand off .............. but where are your hands !!!! or is that why John has a smug look on his face ?
