A Busy Couple of Days...

Wow it has been a busy couple of days - yesterday was 'make sure we have a working toilet day' - with guests imminent we needed to make sure it was fully functioning!!  We had arranged to go into Polis with George and Pam so collected them at 10.00 and started off at Paps doing the shop in readiness for the christening of the barbeque.  We then went into Polis to sort out some banking and then enjoyed a relaxing coffee together in Polis square - we will miss them when they go back to England in a couple of weeks!!

Peace has been a little shattered as they are building a road in the field next door.  Waking up to the earth moving is not quite the same when it is a digger that is causing it!  Still we cant do anything about it so we just ignore it!

We were sitting down having a rest when we remembered that we were going down to Paphos to take part in a Mini-Golf competition with Mum and Dad, Aunty Joyce and Uncle David, Janice and Ray.  We shot off down to Paphos and after a bit of an abortive start (Ray and Janice forgot the plastic cutlery) we made it down to the course.  Eventually we were allocated to our respective teams and set off in pursuit of glory - which, needless to say we didnt achieve!!  Anyway it was a good evening and Dad and I picked up really really good fish and chips from Fisherman's Wharf after the competition.

Not sure quite what Liz is discussing with John - perhaps this would be best left to a caption competition - maybe they are discussing the distance of a putt!!  Good to see that John has a little refreshment in his hand to see him through the 18 holes!!

After a quick coffee at Ray's we headed back to Droushia as we knew we would be busy getting ready for the barbeque today.

I had so hoped that the man with the digger had the day off today but no such luck he started at 7.00am so John and I were up early.  House was clean and tidy and all jobs done so John and I had a quick walk into the village to check for post (none today but several yesterday which look like birthday cards for Friday).  On the way back we called into see Alkisti and came out laden with beautiful fresh grapes which I had earmarked for pudding today!

Mum, Eileen, Aunty Joyce and Uncle David arrived first.  Janet, Alan and Dad were delayed because Alan's hire car wouldnt start but fortunately they got it sorted quickly and arrived soon after.  It was a glorious day in Droushia - in fact we were chasing the shade for most of it.  Thank goodness we have so many different places to be able to sit but how strange that we now seek the shade when I always used to be the one looking for the sun!

John was so pleased to be able to use the barbeque for the first time and as usual we over catered but rather that than not having enough - we had keftedes, sheftalia, haloumi, burgers, sausages, belly pork, potatoes and salad with dips followed by some lovely cake we had purchased from the bakery in Prodromi and Alkisti's grapes.

It was so lovely to have people round who had seen the property at its worst and were now seeing it after all the hard work we had put in over the last few months.  Everyone seemed to agree that our place is looking good - I know that we think so but it is nice to have it confirmed.

As we were saying goodbye to all the family we were collared by George and Pam to go in for a coffee which we did but after an hour or so we had to leave as we still had to clear up all the barbeque stuff.  We have arranged to take them out for a meal tomorrow as from Friday we will be tied up with family celebrations and our visitors.

Managed to Skype Hils today and she tells us she is coming out in November to visit her Mum Eileen and to stay with us for a couple of days.  That will be great - just hope that she has a jumper with her as the evenings can be quite cool.  It was only 20 degrees tonight which is quite a drop from the 30-odd it was during the day.

A lie in tomorrow and cant wait!!!
