Post Visitor Blues...

So we dropped off Laura and Mark last night at the airport - we know that they had a slight delay but not enough when we arrived to check them in and then go somewhere else like we did with Vix and Trev.

On the way home we got a bit confused by the roadworks and detour and ended up in Anavargos by the Taverna where Mum and Dad have taken Norma and Tommy for lunch today!  All very nice but not where we were supposed to be so it took us a bit longer to get home than anticipated.

We settled down with a G&T just the two of us before calling it a night - it all seems very quiet after having two lots of visitors in close succession!

We are a little concerned about Chivs as he has had a poorly tummy and try as we might we dont seem to be getting it sorted.  He has lost a little weight since I weighed him earlier in the week and he seems listless at times.

We decided to take him across to the bedrooms with us - not the best idea as John fell sound asleep and I was kept awake by Chivs who was either digging for England in his dirt box or wafting a smelly bum in my vicinity or purring his head off - we will be keeping him in the other building in future!

Anyway I have contacted Irene who has suggested giving him some plain chicken and she will take him back to the Vets on Monday for a check-up.  She thinks he is just struggling to get to full fitness having had cat flu and his vaccination.  Let's hope it is just that.

Today was the steel city derby (Sheffield United v Sheffield Wednesday) and John is p***ed off on two counts - one that the game is not being televised anywhere that we could find it so he had to make do with commentary from Radio 5 Live and two that having gone two nil up early in the first half the not so mighty Blades let that lead slip away at the end of the game.  'Bloody useless' was the official verdict from Droushia.

I have been doing my usual after visitors have been and gone and cleaned the bedrooms and bathroom and done the laundry which really isnt any hardship when you can get the sheets washed, dried and back on the bed in a couple of hours.  Sorry Hilary but you will see I dont mention ironing - there again you aren't one of life's great ironers either so you will appreciate the fact that the sheets went straight back on the bed.  Anyway there is a nice clean bed waiting for you when you come in November and I  have put a Duvet on the bed as our night temperatures fall away considerably.  I have also put some rugs by the side of the bed as Laura was concerned about us getting frostbite in our toes having to walk on freezing tiles in the winter!!
In between the Rugby (well done New Zealand - please stuff the French in the final) and the Grand Prix (pull your fingers out Hamilton and Button) and the Tennis (well done Andy Murray) and the various football matches on today we have been looking at where plants are going in the garden.

We think we have found a home for Mark and Laura and we hope you appreciate the little additions we have made to the plants (genus still unknown!!).  Laura, we tried to model the eyelashes on your own!!!

Quiet day all round - going to have pork casserole, hassleback potatoes and salad for Sunday dinner - it will be strange just the two of us.
