Bye Bye Mr & Mrs P...

So we have come to the end of Mark and Laura's holiday.  We were all up early today because it was the Wales v France world cup rugby semi final match and I think the less said about that the better as Wales were robbed - apparently - and watching the sending off I think the Welsh have every reason to feel aggrieved and I know nothing about rugby union.

Laura and I left the boys yelling at the TV screen and we went into Polis to do some last minute shopping as Mark was keen to take home a taste of Cyprus by way of some Halloumi and Lountza together with some Orzo pasta and the lovely fluffy Pittas that you get in Paps.

Hearing a conversation about "can I put my meat in your hand luggage" coming from the bedroom this afternoon could have been quite confusing if you didnt know exactly what they were talking about!!

I was really pleased that I managed to get some compost at the Farmer's Union place so hopefully we might be enjoying some fresh new potatoes around Christmas time plus I can pot up all my cuttings and get my seeds that Trev brought over germinating!

After lunch we decided to go down to Paphos for an hour or so to finish off the holiday before having tea at Mum's and then going to the airport to drop the Pamments off.

Down on the coast it was an absolutely beautiful afternoon - clear, bright and warm.

We took the opportunity to sit down and enjoy ice-creams in the lovely October sunshine.  We have been checking the weather forecast for Laura and Mark later in the week and it looks like it is going to be pretty chilly for them!  Plus it gave Mrs P one last chance to people watch from behind her Radley sunglasses.

We had to try and keep Laura away from all the jewellery stores along the front as she is like a magpie when it comes to diamonds and there are plenty of those on show!

Mark had got us to take our copy of Laughing Kitbags with us.  The book is written by Ian Stanley Ditch or "George" to his friends.   George is a legend in his own lunchtime (and the Fleet Air Arm) and will be known to many of you who read this blog.  Apparently there is a bit of thing on Facebook where people are having their photograph taken with the book in a variety of foreign locations so we thought we could throw Paphos Harbour into the mix.

Having walked around Paphos Tourist area both Laura and Mark agreed that this would not have been their choice for a holiday destination and that they had really enjoyed the opportunity of getting to see the 'real' Cyprus by staying up in the sticks in a village.  That is great to hear and we have enjoyed having all our guests to stay and showing them what our life in Droushia is really like.

We rocked up at Mum and Dad's so that Larua and Mark could have something to eat before going to the airport and I made them a sandwich each to take with them as it will be pretty late before they get back to Cardiff.  Checking in and getting through departures went smoothly despite Mark's bag being a little over-weight (must have been those extra pomegranates you scrumped!!).

Last thing we heard was that the flight was about 30 minutes delayed so we hope they get home ok and look forward to seeing them again soon - Laura promises to be back in March even if Mark is unable to make it.
