Sunday Dinner on a Saturday...

Because John and I are off to Nicosia tomorrow we invited Mum and Dad to come up today for what was ostensibly a Sunday Roast but on a Saturday!!

The weather has changed today and there was a heavy rolling mist when John got up this morning - I must admit I didnt see it as I was still starfishing in bed but then it was only 6.30am!!  The sun made a valiant attempt to burn it off but there was never quite the strength in it as there had been during the course of the week so we knew we were in for a cooler day.

As you know John likes to get up early to have time with Chivers and Minnie.  When they aren't killing one another they are actually quite adorable and loving.

When our neighbours Galadia and Charalambous called in today they were snuggled up together on the tuftee with Ted the Bear looking like butter wouldnt melt in their mouths!!!

Mum and Dad arrived at around 11.00am and we had a quiet morning.  I served home-made carrot and coriander soup for lunch and then we watched a couple of episodes of Doc Martin, played cards and generally chilled out.  Chivers looks very comfortably stretched out keeping Dad company whilst he completed a sudoku on John's tablet and Minnie got herself comfortable on Mum's lap!!!

The weather this afternoon took a real turn for the worse with thunder and lightening followed by heavy rain and then huge hail-stones for a while.  It looks like we will have to make a quick dash across the courtyard for bed tonight - still it is only the second time in six months!

I successfully managed to cook a full roast dinner - this was my practice run for Christmas when I will be doing the full Christmas Dinner thing.  It was good to check out exactly how the oven works - it seems to be hotter and faster than I expected as the roast beef took a lot less time than I had calculated.

We had a lovely hour long Skype call with our dear friends Steven and Catherine (daughters Lauren and Natalie and cat Gregory) tonight - well we did when they eventually got their sound sorted!!!  It is so nice to be in touch with people and to be able to see them and hear them.  Hopefully we will get to see them in the flesh over here at some point - we would just love to be able to show them exactly what our life is like rather than do it through the computer.

The storm has abated and we need an early night so we will be running across to bed shortly!

  1. Hope you had a lovely day - you both look very smart. Something we would love to try out the next time we are in Cyprus for New Year if possible.
