Just a Normal Friday...

So it is just the two of us again - it has been lovely having visitors but it is equally as nice when we go back to it just being the two of us!

John was up early as usual and when I got up the builders at Angela's (3b) were in full flow and we watched with interest as they had an 'elephants trunk' arrive along the new road with a cement mixer in hot pursuit.  The elephant's trunk pours wet cement to fill areas that the builders have shuttered and thereby create new walls.  It is all very exciting to watch the work progress - two men working on their own without any apparent plans or planning permission!!!

The elephant's trunk is in itself an amazing bit of engineering because it arrives as a long piece of heavy plant and then gently unfurls to reach its target which could be some distance away.  We watched until the job was completed - there seemed to be quite a few shouts as the cement was apparently poured in error!!

The weather continues to surprise us - at 11:32 it was a very healthy 27 degrees in the sun!  I just love being able to sit outside and warm my face - plus I can keep on eye on Chivers as he explores the outside whilst poor Minnie sits with her nose pressed up against the back door window wanting to follow him - apparently she shouldnt go outside until she has at least had her first vaccination which isnt for a few days yet.

The weather up in our region ensures that things grow well - so John's clementine has fruited and the fruit has remained on the tree and gradually turned orange.  We had expected it to fall off whilst the tree established itself.

My potatoes are also doing very well and I am hopeful that we might be enjoying fresh new potatoes on Christmas Day.

A fairly quiet day for us as we went down into down to do some food shopping (Mum and Dad are coming for lunch tomorrow) and to get the guttering for Trish and Ollie's house as John is going to put this up for them next week.

We managed to stay up until 11.00pm which is a bit of a record as I am normally counting sheep by about 8.00!!!

We are off to Nicosia on Sunday to the Races so yo may not get much of a blog over the next couple of days!!
