Today we said goodbye to Hils (seen here chilling out the previous evening). We have had a lovely couple of days together and know that we shall see her (and husband Keith) next year when they come back to Cyprus to play in a number of band concerts. Let's hope they aren't threatened by a taverna owner with a shotgun this time!!!
Hils and I spent the morning sat outside reading our books in the very pleasant sunshine before packing up and setting off for Coral Bay where my Mum and her Mum Eileen were attending their monthly coffee morning organised by the 'Harmony' social group. We managed to get down there by 10.30 to share a coffee. I am off with Mum in early December on a trip organised by Harmony to Nicosia for Christmas Shopping and Ikea which should be great fun.
Mum and Eileen were joined at their table by Dotty Dot (who forgot to pitch up at the Cream Tea last week) and who was Mum's neighbour when Mum and Dad lived down the road from where they live now, Liz who is the mum of our friend Nicky (who now lives opposite Dotty Dot in Mum and Dad's old house) and Janice who lives behind Mum and Dad now.
It is a bit large really for our small house but we have put it in the lounge to encourage them to use it for play rather than kill one another - which is what they sound like they are doing when they play together at the moment!
We said our goodbye's and I set off for Mum and Dad's - via the florists where I am trying to locate a plant I have seen growing outside a house in Kathikas. We think it might be some sort of yellow Crossandra as the blooms are almost the size of a red-hot poker but are bright yellow with a black top. I managed to get a quick photograph on my mobile and the woman at Kissos florists called her brother and they took a good look but couldnt be sure. I am going to have to knock on the door of the house I think!!
We are so pleased with the carpet that arrived yesterday we decided we would get more of the same to carpet the kitchen area where we currently have a rather cheap and cheerful rug - plus use the offcuts to make some further small rugs. John phoned to say that he had ordered them and asked me if I could drop off the deposit.
I called into Mum and Dad's closely followed by Mum who had dropped off her charges and we had lunch together before she and I went off down to the Imperial Beach for our regular game of Pickle-Ball. Only four of us this week - we were joined by Eric and Jeff. We had a great few games - it was tiring but it gets the blood flowing and I do enjoy it.
On the way back we called in to the rug shop to pay the deposit - Sean at the shop said there was an outside chance that they could be ready tomorrow which would be brilliant and as Mum and Dad are coming up on Saturday for the day they could collect them and bring them with them. I also stopped off and picked up a ten litre box of red wine from the Kolios Butchery as we are running short!!
They both seem to be ok after a really bad start in life. We are keeping a very careful eye on them both because we dont want them to go downhill again.
