Still Swimming in November...

Having Hilary to stay has meant that I have been to the beach when I probably wouldnt have bothered!  As she is on holiday it is good to take advantage of the weather and as the sun loses its heat after about 2.00pm it is good to get up early and get off!

This morning we were greeted by clear blue skies with not a cloud and so we decided to take our breakfast outside.

You can see from the weather station that at 9.10am it was showing 28.5 degrees!!  We know that this isnt 100% accurate but it is all we have and what we go by.

Prior to setting off for the beach John took Hils for a spin on the bike - down to the village to check the post and to pick up some milk - she thoroughly enjoyed being a biker-chick for about five minutes!  We forget sometimes just how handy it is having the bike and I really must get to grips with it and try riding it myself.  I am just so worried I wont be able to reach to put my feet down and drop the bloody thing!

All chores done we decided to go down to Asprokremnos beach as it isn't too far and the wind seemed to be in the right direction to ensure that we would get maximum warmth from the sunshine - plus it was a beach that Hilary hadnt visited before.  We are so grateful for Galadia and Charalambous telling us where to park to get to the beach.  OK so you have to walk down 60-odd steps to get there but when you do it is so worth it.

As you can see the beach was absolutely packed when we arrived!!!  We decided that we should check out the sea sooner rather than later so that we could have the sun to warm us up afterwards.

The sea was warm, calm and very, very clear - once again you didnt need a snorkel to see the various little fishes darting in and out of the shallows.  What a beautiful place.

We took a picnic lunch with us and stayed until about 2.30pm when the wind began to pick up and there didnt seem to be enough strength in the sun for us to remain sitting on the beach in swimming costumes.  We decided that we would take the scenic route home through the Akamas via Smygies picnic spot to rescue John who had been cat-sitting all day.

In fairness John chose to stay at home because we were having our carpet delivered today and he wanted to be there and was determined to have it laid before Hilary and I came home.  True to his word he managed to shift all the furniture around and when we came home there is was - looking fantastic.

As you can see the cats are fine and playing rough and tumble by their new 'gym'  (will explain tomorrow).  John is satisfied that the play fighting is exactly that, play fighting, and Minnie is living up to her 'Moaning' tag by complaining loudly even if Chivers is no-where near - she is indeed a Minx and will soon be 'top cat' here.

With tea on the go we wrapped up warm and took a walk into the village scrumping some figs en route - Hils is keen to pick some more in daylight.  We had a drink at Stathmos - opting to sit outside because it wasnt too cold - much to the amusement of the locals who obviously thought we were complete nutters.  It was fantastic to take the short walk back and enter the house to lovely cooking smells and a comfortable warm atmosphere.

Hils goes back to her Mum's tomorrow - it has been lovely having her here - let's hope next time she comes with husband Keith.
