Friends come Visiting...

Today was the day I was going down to Emba to meet up with our good friend Hilary (who is visiting her mum Eileen) to bring her back to Droushia for her to stay with us for a couple of days.  We hadnt realised that when she was here in May our furniture hadn't arrived so she will see a big change!!!  Anyway I didnt leave before I snapped Chivers and Minnie mirroring one another in their pursuit for a fly!!!  Neither seem to have been affected by their respective visits to the vets which is great and although we are supposed to be keeping them apart it is very difficult because on one hand we want them to learn to get on but on the other we dont want them to pass anything to one another.

We dont want to go through watching Min deteriorate in front of our eyes again - it was awful as a result we are probably over protective of our two little charges!

The weather is just beautiful at the moment - Hilary knows the right time to come - although she says that she has been a couple of times in May and not seen a day of sunshine.

Dad was busy cleaning the pool when I arrived.  Eileen and Hils arrived for coffee and we sat around in the early morning sunshine deciding which beach we were going to visit.  How brilliant is that in November???

We decided that we would try St Georges Bay.  When we arrived it looked absolutely beautiful.  At this time of year there are very few people on the beach and the water temperature is fantastic and the water was sooooo clear you could see the fishes around your feet.

I have been to St Georges before and not been too impressed but today it was the best place in the world to be!  I cant believe that we are able to swim in November and that the water feels so warm.

I wanted to collect some shells for a craft project I have and I am very mindful of making sure that the shells are empty when I take them.  I put them on the rug and after a few minutes one of them started to make a bid for freedom!!!  I hadnt realised that one of the shells contained a hermit crab!

This late in the season the sun loses its heat sometime between 2.00pm and 3.00pm and so we packed up and decided to take the coastal road home as Hils has never seen Lara Bay.  We made our way to the bay and had a look and took the old road back to Droushia where John was waiting for us having looked after Chivers and Minnie all day.

We have realised that somewhere in the world it must always be Gin o'clock so we had a few little drinkies before setting off to Kathikas and Yiannis for a meal.  All up to the usual excellent standard and we were absolutely stuffed by the time we left.

By about 9.00pm Hils and I were absoltuely knackered and so had to retire to bed early.  Hopefully the 15 tog duvet will keep Hils cosey and warm tonight!!

It is lovely to have Hils staying with us - her mum and my mum are such great friends and our respective experiences of Cyprus stretch back twenty years, we have also had some amazing holidays together - one which we shared with Mum and Dad in the Far East and another when John and I and Hils and Keith went on Safari in Kenya (where the lions are superglued to the rocks - NOT!!)
