Minnie Comes Home...

Today we were taking Chivers to the Vets for the second of his two initial jabs.  We have decided to go ahead with it as he seems to have been fine since Friday and we want to get him fully inoculated against cat flu - the only trouble is that last time the jab and wormer etc really knocked the stuffing out of him.

It was a lovely day again today and we had breakfast before setting off for Peyia - Chivers is soooo nosey when it comes to food and drink - today he was checking out whether or not he likes coffee.

He doesnt normally get anything although John did give him a little wheatabix (fibre darling - it's good for the constitution apparently!!).

En route to the vets we called Irene to see if there was any news on Minnie.  We were delighted to learn that the vet was happy for her to come home and Irene felt she would benefit from some full on love and cuddles because there is only so much that the team at the vets can give.  It made the journey down all the better knowing that she was feeling well enough to come home.

In the vets today there were two of the most beautiful kittens looking for a new home.  If we didnt have our two already we would have certainly offered to take these on as they were exactly what John envisaged we would have given the choice.  But then, beggars cant be choosers so they say so instead of silver tabbies we ended up with two gingers!

The twenty minute journey back to Droushia seemed to take forever with the two kittens in their baskets hating every minute and they both became extremely vocal.  Neither one of them wanted to be shut in and so there was a lot of angst and crying (and that was just John!!!)  I dont know who was more distressed - me or the cats.

Once at home we had to try and reintegrate them and we are supposed to be trying to keep them separated so that they cannot pass things between themselves.  We started by moving all Minnie's things into our bedroom as we really had to go into Polis and do some food shopping.

She seemed to settle really well and was immediately loving and we had a little cuddle and a lie on the bed and she started to suck my hair (nice!!!).  Our old cat Pinkie used to do that and I think it was because she lost her mother at a very early age.

We could hear her as we walked back up the path from our shopping expedition and Chivers seemed very confused as to where the noise was coming from.  We weren't at all sure if he remembered her being here as she was only in the house three days before being rushed to the vest and she was at the vets for a week.

We decided we would reintroduce them but try and keep their food separate as Minnie is on the very expensive Royal Canin for poorly tums and try and get them to use different litter trays.  No bloody chance I can tell you - she wants to eat Chivers food and he wants to eat hers - neither of them care which tray they poo in and John and I are up and down like yo-yo's.

John has been ever so patient with them and spent hours getting them to 'BE NICE' - it has paid off because this afternoon they were both laid out sparkers on his lap.  Chivers doesnt seem to have any ill effects from his vaccination - unlike the last time and Minnie has settled in really well.  She is noisy, whether she is talking to you, purring or farting (which she is really good at).  Chivers is confused as to whether he should be top cat or just run away from her - he bats her around a bit but she is unconcerned.

We are trying to sort out the sleeping arrangements for tonight - I think it could be a long one - Minnie is wailing at Chivers from the carpet - he is prancing around trying to look mean - John is referee in the middle.  All the LURVE seems to have gone but John has taken control and is sitting on the floor making Chivers stroke Minnie - I have said that Chivers is only doing it whilst John is there and that when we go to bed he is going to beat the living daylights out of Minnie.

The joys of being pet owners!!!!
