Gardening Day...

STOP PRESS - Minnie is back home - full report tomorrow!!!!

The weather for November is just stunning - we are so lucky - just look at the view out of the bedroom window at 8.00am this morning - who would want to go to work under these circumstances???

John had picked me up some compost at the Farmer's Union so I took the opportunity to pot up the two plants which we had brought to go into the pots which Trev and Vix had bought for us.

Gardening is so lovely when the sun is shining and you are accompanied by Freddy the tree frog that lives in the trough in the front garden.  He can be very vocal - we think he is calling for a mate - so far he has been unsuccessful!

We had chosen a tree fern like plant for the biggest pot - the only trouble is I cant handle it very well because it makes me itch and it is very spikey!!.

The pot is so large that John had to nip over the fence and collect some stones so that we could provide some drainage.  I did my absolute best to try and get it central and upright because I just knew John would have something to say if I didnt!!

The Hibiscus for the tall pot is just lovely with a very delicate two tone flower.  The front garden is Chivers absolute favourite place to play so he decided to come along and give me a hand.  I think he can hear Freddy as he is constantly looking up at the noise coming from the trough!

All plants in place we decided to move out to the front and take the opportunity to tidy up Gregoris and Theodora's front garden - just a half an hour but it did make a bit of a difference and it allows us to take advantage of the sunshine when it has gone from around our garden.

We were going to have a roast today (well we would have done if we had been down shopping yesterday) but we had to settle for a sausage casserole and mash instead (with yorkshire puddings just to keep John quiet!!) .  Mindful of maintaining a good diet I was aiming for the five a day so the mash was made from potatoes, sweet potato and carrots and the casserole was sausage, lounza, onion and apple.  Served with peas it was absolutely scrummy and we had enough left over for tomorrow.

John decided to do some arty photography - not sure what he was hoping to achieve and I am not sure there is a new career in the pipeline for him.

It is a night of Strictly and X Factor for us tonight - will the British Public see sense and get rid of that Frankie bloke?
