June 30th...

We have come home tonight and Charlie is missing

OMG it is the last day of June - the year is half over - where is this year going????

Mum and Dad were coming up on their regular Sunday visit but bringing with them their neighbours Rosie and Dave (Rosie also happens to be my hairdresser for those of you who ask who it is that cuts my hair).  They were coming up late afternoon and then we were all going to eat at Fitos's.

After the 'do' on Friday Marion had suggested we all went to an evening beach party at Latchi on Monday night with Rosie and Eve and we were all to take some food to share.  I hadn't had time to get to the shops so I had to see what I could rustle up with what was lurking in the fridge and veg box.  Today, Matthew, I am going to be making Frittata!!  In fact I made two - a meat one with salami and bacon and a veggie one with sun dried tomatoes and roasted red peppers.  Then I made a chickpea salad and with some plums courtesy of Orexi Elena a plum fool.  I love the variety of food that we now eat and am amazed at how adventurous John has become after being a meat and two veg man - having said that he still loves a good old roast pork dinner with Yorkshire puddings and hopefully Mum is going to oblige next week when it is her turn!!

We went up to spend some time with Tom and Jerry - we have been a little preoccupied with Charlie-boy so feel a bit guilty that we have only given them limited attention.  They are oblivous as they have grown into two fantastic little cats who absolutely adore one another and amuse one another.  It won't be long before they too will be rehomed.  They are also going down to the vets on Monday for their jabs.  Irene is a sucker for punishment taking three of them!!

We moved Charlie's cage out as he no longer needs it and took it up together with toys to be housed with T&J.  They soon got stuck into playing and we felt rather surplus to requirement!

As it happened they were going to have a mega cuddle day today as both Rosie and Dave are cat lovers and went up to see them and give them some love.  I hope they realise how lucky they were when we managed to catch them (Tom and Jerry that is - not Rosie and Dave!!!) and get them to safety and how lucky they will be to have been found a home where they can go together.

Tom and Jerry hardly batted an eyelid when we said goodbye to them so we knew that they were ok and we felt less guilty having spent time with them.

Mum and Dad and Rosie and Dave arrived and we spent a very pleasant hour or so sat out under the gazebo having a drink.  It really was a glorious afternoon even up here in the hills where it can be so much cooler and damper.  As I said Mum, Rosie and Dave all wanted to go up and see the two kittens so we went up and spent some time with them.  Rosie and Dave have a black and white cat themselves - called HP and he is a bit of a smasher and will really miss Mum and Dad when they move because he is often to be seen catching some quiet zeds around their place.

Both Rosie and Dave fell in love with Charlie who was on his most naughty behaviour having scratched Dad to pieces and chased Minnie out of the garden.  How can something that looks so sweet be such a shit at times?  John is still very much in two minds as to whether or not he stays - it is exhausting having him I must admit.

Anyway shit or not he is with us and we are going to do our best to calm him down a bit and then hopefully Chivers and Minnie Mou will accept him a lot better - they normally spend a lot of time outside in the Summer but we need them to be in harmony in the Winter otherwise it will be carnage indoors!  In fact I am already worrying about what is going to happen to my Christmas tree this year - I think I can guess!!

Anyway it was soon time to pack up and go on down to Kathikas and Fitos's place.  I had text Johanna earlier to make sure that they were expecting us and that we had the table indoors that we like.  She is great and text me back saying everything was in order!

Mum and Dad had 'bigged' up Fitos to Rosie and Dave so we hoped they would enjoy their meal.  Good news for non meat eaters is that Johanna is going to have fish in daily so that is what I chose and it was delicious.  Mum went for chicken and the others all tackled a big old pork chop cooked as only Johanna can!

We need not have worried about whether or not Rosie and Dave enjoyed themselves - it was a great evening and the food was fantastic as always with a bill that makes you wonder how Johanna makes a profit!
