After a stormy night and an indifferent start to the day the sun broke through and it turned into a really lovely day. We had arranged to go for a walk over to the other side of the village with Rob and Di. As Rob is still incapacitated with his poorly finger he is getting a bit stir crazy indoors - or at least Diana thinks so and she is keen to get him to discover parts of the village that he hasn't seen before. Sadly they have a funeral to attend this afternoon as their neighbour Bill passed away at the weekend.
John didn't think he would be able to join in the walk as he had turned his ankle over playing badminton yesterday but after donning his walking boots and wandering around the house and garden this morning he declared himself fit. We started at the Droushia Heights and then wandered down to the amphitheatre and headed out for the rocks.
It was glorious and we were beginning to feel a bit warm dressed in our layers!!!! We didn't have enough time to walk all the way to Pittikopos today so we are going to do that the next time we go out. There is some stunning scenery around the village and it is all beginning to look lush and green. Ain't we lucky Mr Veasey???
Sadly there are just too many empty and abandoned properties in and around the village. It is a shame to see so many just falling into disrepair. Some of this is to do with the inheritance laws over here and some is probably to do with the divide and some because for a while it was too difficult for people to live in remote villages and hold down jobs - I am guessing it isn't so long ago that there weren't any major roads connecting Droushia to civilisation.
We couldn't persuade Bobby to go into the local barbers for a mullet so walked on to the hotel for a well deserved coffee - John opted for the coffee cake combo but that did replace his lunch so not so bad. Really lovely to get out and get some fresh air today and built us up nicely for our spring cleaning this afternoon.
