Apparently my blog stalker-in-chief Diana cannot go to bed until I have posted and I have, since Christmas, been a bit lackadaisical with my posting and my content apparently so I had better buck my ideas up. As I have said before if I have a photograph I have a memory of something to burble on about but some days I don't take any pictures or don't see anything new to photograph and then when I sit down in the evening to write I don't have much to write about but her comments have been noted and I will endeavour to buck my ideas up...
So we had a very pleasant surprise this week when we received an email from John's sister Janice who told us that she and her husband Mick, their younger son Nathan and John's other sister Wendy's younger daughter Alicia (also our god-daughter) are planning on holidaying here in August and are looking for a nice villa near Polis so that they can spend time with John's mum and stepdad when they are here. The one which they like the most so far is pictured above - blimey it looks nice - John and I are going to check it out at the weekend just to make sure it isn't next to an abattoir or something!!! Fingers crossed that between us we can find them something nice as I know what a big ordeal the flight is to them. Looks like we are going to get a right load of visitors this year with an old college friend of mine contacting me from Canada last night saying they plan to come over this year and see us.
So back to today - we are having a quiet time for us, not much planned by way of going out except we are catching up with Lou and H at the weekend and watching the rugby together. It's ages since we saw them - they have been globetrotting in the interim - and we are really looking forward to spending the evening together and hearing about their holiday and just getting back in touch.

The better weather has prompted us to revisit our to-do list - each year this changes and is a bit weather dependent. The very wet winter has caused us some damp problems - not a lot really but the 'downstairs' toilet next to the kitchen has borne the brunt. Not sure why we refer to it as the downstairs toilet as we live on one level but we always have!!!
I was armed with my trusty toothbrush today and gave the toilet room a right old clean - this is going to be redecorated and the plan is to tile the back wall and repaint the others - jury is currently out as to whether we replace the toilet and the handbasin so in the meantime it is getting a good old bottoming with some bleach and the brush - I also removed a load of the 'bits' in their only for Roberto to ask if we had been burgled!!! We really want to decorate it good and proper so will have to look at the figures and see what we can afford - as we plan to complete the final bit of fencing in the garden by replacing the wooden fence between us and Gregoris and the front gate, we are waiting to see how much that will set us back first before committing ourselves elsewhere.

Chivvy Pops, our oldest cat, is a real gentleman when you compare him to the thuggish character of Charlie who is just a bruiser. Chivvy eats the food that you put down for him - never too much and once eaten he walks away never asking for seconds unlike Charlie who gobbles his food down and then barges the others off and eats probably two or three meals in one go.
Fortunately Charlie doesn't like treats but Chivers does - Chivers likes the stick treats that we get from a number of places but normally from Lidl and he mooches in around 10.00am every day for his daily dose.
Recently Lidl have changed the packaging of their Coshida catfood and I am wondering if it is being fazed out as they appear to have another brand on the shelves at the moment. I am a bit concerned about the new picture on the stick treats as it looks like we are feeding Chivers goldfish flavoured - what on earth is there on that package that would make you realise that the sticks are poultry and liver flavour????

Today Charlie clearly wasn't satisfied with the amount of food he had (a) been given for breakfast and (b) stolen from the other cats as I found him routing about in the cupboards on a number of occasions.
He is on a wild goose chase when he tries the cupboard under the kettle as there is nothing edible in there at all although I have known him to go in there and then curl up on the salvers we have in there!
He has mastered the art of opening the cupboard doors by flicking the underside and bouncing it until he manages to get his head inside and then he eases in the rest of his bulk. In the right hand picture he has found the catfood cupboard and got himself in and made himself comfortable on the vegetable box - he hasn't quite got to the point of opening a sachet and helping himself but he would if he could.
As I worked through my list of things to do I as thwarted in the bed-making stakes because for some reason all four cats were bedding themselves down on our bed and they stayed there for several hours. This meant that I could put off doing the ironing no longer but at least I ended up with an empty basket at long last and by that point two cats had mooched off and the others were encouraged to do so!!
