His journey has just begun

My lovely, lovely Dad was laid to rest yesterday.  The final leg of this, his earthly journey which had lasted 86 years, was accompanied by tears and laughter,  sunshine and rolling mists, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.   We did our best to give him the send off he deserved and one of which he would have approved.

He would have shaken his head in disbelief that it was standing room only at the Chapel of Rest and been even more amazed by the turn out at the graveside in Droushia.

He is at peace in our adopted village - he is at the feet of my friend Elena and if there is an afterlife I know that those two will now be engaged in some deep and meaningful debate.  I take huge comfort in the fact that he is in good company.

Our village astounded us with Cypriots coming to support us and pay their respects - Dad would have loved that as he always knew we wanted to become part of our local community and yesterday we felt blessed to have been truly accepted.

Rest in peace Dad - Mum is in safe hands and we will come for a chat to let you know how things are going now you can no longer end your day by reading this, my blog.
